About Me

Home for 50+ years. No more. Same little dog.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To live fully, experience beauty, learn and teach, share thrills and skills, continuous self improvement, contribution towards others greatest and grandest and to meet others who blow my mind showing me things I don't know, doing things I couldn't imagine and consistently living their brightest and best.

I've gone full time on the US road. I use a 2014 F350 4x4 Diesel Crew Cab Long Bed. Sometimes I travel with a 2014 Keystone Raptor trailer. (Not as of 04/2017).

Mobility is important to me. I recently placed a commercial utility shell onto my truck. I think it will customize out to a nimble earth rover easily capable of quite rugged conditions if needed.

Im easily capable of being virtually anywhere any time in the Northern Hemisphere for the right kind of adventure prospect. Likewise, I have my own itinerary easily shared with another.

Interests

Thinking big. Live Music, becoming social after decades working, seeing and doing things contributing towards others (and my own) greatest and grandest.

Big Bend, Southern Border, Montana, seeing redwoods and glaciers, visiting places I've never been.

Music, Movies, and Books

Lately mostly nonfiction books and current events. Sometimes enjoy movies, mostly with others. Nathaniel Rateliff captures my ear most recently.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The best stories never get told. I'm fortunate.
I'm a retired hospital based physician who founded a border clinic, raised children to adults and been married twice. I've enjoyed extended back country walkabouts and the predictable suburban life of a medical school professor.

I've.lived great stories. It's not always fun. It's always deep. I'm glad to share any of them with you.

Teach, Learn, Share

I enjoy sharing perspectives. I've enough years and experiences with life to offer insights when requested. I spent most of my life practicing and teaching medicine. Maybe too many nights working instead of being present with friends.

Road detailed, focused and partial to those who display qualities I hold dear...Especially those who find easy consideration of others enjoyable.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Whatever I have at that moment. I travel in an F350 4x4 SD and sometimes a 5th wheel 42 foot trailer (Currently in Terlingua).

I always have my own shelter, water, power and food. I don't know urban boondocking. It seems easy to appear desperate or even homeless when in a city.

I like learning from others, especially when it comes to laying up for a day or two. All safe place to park my rig helps me most.

I can easily carry 2 to 3 canoes/kayaks or assortment of bikes without need for a trailer, including people and supplies. I can tow just about anything.

I'm open to expeditions outside cities. When in a city it's comforting if I locate a general crowd of like minded people.

I like sweeping my own side of the street. Sometimes that's paying some money, for others it's supplying food or limited shelter (Im.In my truck and camper shell right now).
