Über mich

CURRENT MISSION

meet the person who decided that just because people are on couchsurfing they need a 'mission'...and headbutt them

ABOUT ME

i dig walking about tremendously, as such i dig places that people like to walk about in, and where kids are not forced to sit inside and watch television. i am a little passionate about public seating. i like to think of myself as not just a culture spectator but rather a culture participator. meaning that rather than going to a museum about clubbing i will go to a club, the difference is my sole aim is not just to get trashed! I guess one thing I should admit as a couchsurfer is that, well, I don’t really like – people – that much. Especially a lot of them, at once. But everything is different, if I think they are cool, then people can be the shit. Yet I get very anxious and very worried by this ‘love and admiration’ for all human kind. It’s a nice idea, and quite likely it is possible for a lot of people to appreciate the good in everyone they meet, but I am happy with my limitations. The way I see it, being ‘narrow-minded’ as I guess you could call it, about the people that I choose to hang out with and be my friends is the way that I have chosen to function, the way that I believe works out for me, the only way that I can imagine being the person I want to be, especially around those people that I have decided I would like to spend time with. It’s all very well to be open minded and try and accept as many varieties as personality and character as you can, but personally I’m not open minded enough to think that the person shouting in my ear, interrogating me or stroking an uninterested girl’s thigh, isn’t an asshole. They are an asshole, for me, in that moment, and that is that.

PHILOSOPHY

Be cool. Stay cool. And if you ain't cool, go back to school. And sit and drool. Over some rules. Created by a fool. Who wound up all cruel. Like you will, you tool!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Done a good bit of hosting now. But in Belfast it was easy, because I had a shit load of space, now, in Stockholm, I only have one room, which I guess means I have to think you seem swell in some way if I'm gonna host, but the majority of my experiences have been good. Some excellent. A couple idiotic. Come by, let's see! I am not too interested however in the prospect of hosting people who don't have any personality..... or people who make idiotic chuckling noises..... I really hate guys who make idiotic chuckling noises and agree with everything any pretty girl says...'uhuhuhuhuh' yeah whatever bilbo get a life...

Musik, Filme und Bücher

i like books that can't be made into movies, movies that couldn't possibly come from a book, and music for the sake of music and not for the sake of emotional propoganda, but there are always exceptions. i like wathching kaurismaki, bergman, fellini, lynch, goddard, hanecke, noe, moodysson, german cinema but then for some reason american romantic comedies such as serendipity and such......if music contains words i generally prefer if it's in swedish, so: thåström, raymond och maria, håkan hellström, melissa horn, veronica maggio etc. have also developed (somehow) quite a passion for swedish hip hop, so: promoe, looptroop rockers, petter, timbuktu, latin kings, ken ring, maskinen, tbb and a lot of lesser known stuff. otherwise it's nice to listen to music for music's sake, as in with no words, so: steve lawler, dave clarke, tiesto (yeahh i know but i actually really like tiesto for some reason :\), christian smith, explosions in the sky. don't really like trance music per se but i did at one weird time in my life fall in love with that lufthansa trance radio station that you get on long haul flights. was always my representation of how weird it was going constantly back and forth to japan in my childhood. so if you fly with lufthansa, check it out! other than that i like leonard cohen, in flames, pearl jam and pantera......reading henry miller, saul bellow, kundera, kafka, mccarthy, marquez, james, cohen, vonnegut, that book the scarlet letter by nathaniel hawthorne for some reason....waldon when i figure i wanna sleep rough.... the independant, dagens nyheter (rocky cartoons anyway) haha

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

the most amazing thing i've done is unquestionably to run out of money. walking around penniless, homeless, can open a man's eyes. jumping turnstiles on the new york subway. deciding to randomly fly to new york one day with no job or accomodation or friends - freefalling in the modern world, relying on charm, or lack thereof, alone to get by. going clubbing alone, it is the fear that one gets from the necessity to interract with others (strangers) around oneself that enables the purity of conversation itself. breaking niches. sometimes a man must lose everything to gain anything?

corny as this may be the most amazing thing i've ever seen is my ex girlfriend's face. It's totally irrelevant how many countries I've been to or how many mountains I've climbed or even how many cool people I've had the chance to chill with, nothing can beat getting lost in a face of beauty and significance for days on end, months on end; like hanging in a different universe, another solar system. Lying on the cool grass in the hot summer sun wearing sunglasses to hide beautiful eyes and maybe I would take a drag of a cigarette and exhale into my girlfriend's mouth and she would blow out a smoke ring. magic. no smiles and no grimaces. for intelligence is lost in the smile (read: Milan Kundera - Immortality) just an understanding; an understanding of what we understand and an understanding of that we can never understand, each other's face or the world around us or why we must come to an end.....sigh.....

Lehren, lernen, teilen

Anyone else think it's mad how, if it's like - Sunday, nowhere is it Wednesday??? Sometimes in a place where it is Sunday, in another place it could be Saturday, or perhaps, in another place where it is Sunday, at a different time, in some other place it might be Monday. But never anywhere is it Wednesday. Not until time passes. You can stand and stare at a mirror on a Sunday and think 'no one in the world is experiencing Wednesday.' People are experiencing the trials and tribulations of drama and the agony and joy of life; extreme poverty, twisted greed, the deepest of oceans and the highest of plains. No one is experiencing Wednesday. There is no Wednesday. Not where you stand; not with your mirror. Not anywhere. Det finns inte. No Wednesday. No one else think this is amazing??? Oh well....

Furthermore, on the subject of time difference, anyone else think it's mad how, if you are standing in the great himalayan national park in northern india, and you are looking to the east - over the Chinese border to a region called Zanda - you are staring at 2 and a half hours in the future...not one, not two, not three, not seven: two a half, two and a half hours. It is 5pm, perhaps, but over there, no, it is not 5pm, nor is it 6pm, nor is it Wedneday, unless it is Wednesday, but certainly it is 7.30pm! Perhaps you see a fox, lurking in a bush, and the fox jumps out from behind the Chinese bush to scare a badger, that fox is kicking it 2 and a half hours in the future to where you stand. Does this mean the fox cannot hunt you, for you are in the past? The fox would have to time travel to hunt you, but it is Chinese this fox and content with its badger. Does the Chinese fox - we shall call him, Rolf, know that he is in the future? Does it antagonise him? Who is he looking for really? A lover? A friend? Solidarity with China, a passport to India? Perhaps you learn you want to befriend the fox, Rolf, who can speak good English and Swedish, unusual for a Chinese fox, but he is in the future. It is crazy this world we live in. Totally crazy; agonizing and fantastical...
