ABOUT ME

I'm a software developer on a year sabbatical traveling the world with my lovely wife Leslie, who works in activities, working with people living with dementia.

We left Seattle on April 17th, 2012 with the goal of going around the world. We're going through Europe now having just returned from Morocco. We will soon be making our way to Asia before moving on to South America.

We traveled for three months throughout Southeast Asia about three years ago and met a couple who were traveling for a year. We set our goal then and we are now on our way.

I'm 32 and Leslie's 28. We're fans of a pub or two, but our party all night days are behind us. We like to learn about cultures, foods and interesting local things. We're not so much into the sightseeing as we've seen a ton of cathedrals, castles and casbahs, but are more interested in meeting people, discovering how cultures differ from one another and finding similarities. I'm a major football (soccer) fan and Leslie loves taking pictures.

While traveling via trains, bus, boat or whatever, I'm reading a fantasy novel and she's usually reading biographies or listening to music.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We haven't hosted anybody yet. We've heard good things about the site and are signing up while on the road. Technically, we live at my parents house. In actuality, all our stuff is in a storage bin and we live in backpacks.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We met some CS-ers in Portugal and they showed us around. Then we watched Germany beat the Dutch in EuroCup 2012 while drinking sangria :)

Bryan - I have a MBA, a degree in foreign policy and I'm a computer programmer. I can teach basic programming, how to perform a cost-benefit analysis or basic guitar. Writing your first bit of "code" will take about five minutes. I also make a pretty good bechamel sauce :)

Leslie -
I am always interested in sharing and learning about new bands and movies, hopefully smaller not as well known ones.

I've spent my professional life working with elderly people with dementia. If you need help setting expectations for this phase of life for you and/or your loved ones than I will be happy to share the expertise I have.

I am a beginner photographer. I love taking and looking at photos.

I would love to learn more about acrylic and oil painting.
