About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Deciding if I should try to save, or just savour, the world.

ABOUT ME

I'm a tropical marine biologist living in northern Australia. I'm pretty active and think that time spent doing the things you love is never wasted!
I spend as much time as possible in and around the ocean kitesurfing, diving etc (although I'm stuck in the lab or office a little too much these days...). I enjoy most things outdoors on the land too, a laugh, good coffee and flavoursome beer.

PHILOSOPHY

You get a one-way ticket to life. Don't waste it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm pretty new to the scene but keen to get into it. I have had couchsurfing enrich my travel experiences, so looking to return the favour.
So hit me up if you're in North Queensland.

Interests

Coral reef ecology, travel, kitesurfing, mountain biking, scuba diving, home-brewing beer, aquaponics, music, hiking, camping, good food, new experiences, etc., etc.
Oh and the bees! Almost forgot the bees. I'm into bee keeping these days.

Music, Movies, and Books

-I read a lot, so it is hard to choose. Some authors I have been into recently include Vonnegut, Murakami and Orwell for fiction, and Gladwell, Dawkins and Diamond for non-fiction.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hard to say.... I spent 4 months living and working in remote Papua New Guinea in 2010 and still go back twice a year for my research. Trekking through some of the remaining wilderness areas on Borneo. Diving with whales. Kitesurfing through the Pacific.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to make beer that actually tastes good! Or how to setup your own home aquaponics system, integrating fish aquaculture and hydroponic gardening. I can also talk for hours about my bees :)
I am currently trying to learn how to speak Spanish and to sail, but need help!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can tell you more about coral reefs than you probably ever wanted to know :)

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Austria, Brazil, Cambodia, Chile, Colombia, Cook Islands, Cuba, Czech Republic, Denmark, Ecuador, Fiji, France, French Polynesia, Germany, Hungary, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Malaysia, Mexico, Myanmar, Netherlands, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Peru, Poland, Singapore, Slovakia, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Thailand, United Kingdom, United States, Uruguay, Vatican City State, Viet Nam, Wales
