ABOUT ME
Hmm, every time I try to write one of these self-descriptions it's quite a bit different (as I suppose it ought to be!) but here goes:
A part of me, deep down, NEEDS to travel, and yet a very different part of me settles down so easily that I end up forgetting. Then, I put on some pounds, move more slowly, don't think as clearly, until something -- a person, a thought, a story -- turns my world around and sets me off again. I'm going through that process right now. Newly awakened from a kind of slumber, I realize with difficulty that it's been nearly a decade since I last set off to Japan, out of a certain love and a desire to learn a foreign tongue, understand a new culture, greatly expand my view of the world. But so many years later and nowhere else?
I would eventually learn to indulge that old curiosity on the theater stage, until the day I feared that it should remained trapped there if I did not move on.
Perhaps the pages of my books, had they any brains, would beg to differ that I ever really stop moving, as I certainly pay them a great deal of attention and affection whenever the rest of me is holding still.
