About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Live life as it's your last day on this planet

ABOUT ME

Hi everybody , my names Sam I'm 22, I like to think I'm quite the lively type, I'm relatively new to couch surfing but have loved it every single time. I'm quite spontaneous and will try to grasp every opportunity as it comes to me. I'm friendly and get along with people from all corners of the world.

PHILOSOPHY

I love to use the saying "you need to risk it if you want the biscuit" which I feel means you need to take a risk if you want things in life. Whether that's taking the plunge and seeing the world, or going after what you want knowing there's an element of risk in it.

I also believe that treat people how you want to be treated I don't see the need for stigma or being judgmental, as long as you treat them as you want to be you can put all those stereotypes and dislikes of people to the side.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

My good friend Hamish introduced me to couch surfing on our cross Canada trip, and I fell in love with it the idea of it instantly, and have used it ever since, I am yet to host as I'm am still travelling but cannot wait to host and meet new people once I am home and working again and be as accommodating and warming as people
Have been for me.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have only been surfing for a few months and have already formed friendships I will treasure for a lifetime. The experiences I have had I would have never got from studying in hotels or hostels, from mountain biking, to mushroom picking to tours of parliament, I just love the opportunities I have had to experience these wonderful things snd hope I can repay people with that myself soon.

Interests

Before my gap year of travelling I was working as a scuba instructor and a lifeguard at the beach which are two of my favourite things to do. I am a huge lover of the outdoors, surfing, hiking, camping, skiing and any kind of sport I love it all. I love being able to embrace the environment and appreciate what it has to offer the world.
I previously graduated with a bachelor in health science and rehabilitation counselling and plan to return to start my masters in paramedics.
I love all kinds of music and love to play guitar.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am a huge movie buff I love all movies and can quote entire movies in some cases which is quite a useless gift. Music is a huge passion of mine I enjoy all genres of music especially alternative and classic rock, my favourite band is john butler trio (look them up).

I love to read when I can find the time I love autobiographies, the fact I can gain some insight into peoples lives I find quite inspiring.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

From September through till mid November my friend Hamish and I partook in a 2 and a half month road trip across Canada in our mini van we called jeffwey , driving from Victoria to Newfoundland, we saw some amazing sites from the Rocky Mountains to the old parliaments of ottowa.

I also recently scuba dived on a shipwreck larger than the titanic in Vanuatu, seeing some incredible marine life, and some wrecks from ww2. During this time I got to mingle with some of the locals and experience their culture.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love meeting people. I love the fact that everyone has a story to tell and experiences to share and I love trying to get every ounce of that out of people.
I like how couch surfing allows for me to share my stories and hear new ones.
