About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I want to know what drives you.
ABOUT ME
A student of science both formally and informally. A philosopher at heart and an adventurer in spirit. I can't wait to see the world, and meet the people in it!
PHILOSOPHY
The key is to keep things open. Your eyes first, then your mind, and of course, your heart! Still working on keeping plans open, but thats much harder!
For any other philosophers: I identify most closely as a moral relativist with an emphasis on humanism and who tries to stick to the positive version of the golden rule! Of course, with a mind as open as mine, that tends to evolve regularly. Maybe you could teach me a thing or two!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Couch surfing for me serves as an excellent way to integrate in a culture while travelling. One can more intimately get to know the locals and be exposed to local attractions whether by advice or shared experience with the hosts. This is what I'm looking for when I surf, and its what I will hope for when I host.
I've had a few experiences with couchsurfing so far. I spent a week in Seattle with a great bunch of roommates, a night in Nelson, BC with a pair of friendly locals and a bit over a week in Long Beach, LA. Each experience was different, but as rewarding as the rest.
I'll be looking for surfers once i am renting my own place in Adelaide, Australia.
Interests
I find myself enjoying most things, but actively and especially hiking, skiing, and talking philosophy & science! In my down time, I enjoy reading, from science fiction to popular science or classic historical works, playing the occasional video game or keeping up to date with world news.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I hiked 200km (mostly)alone through the Aussie outback in 2013. Remarkable scenery and fantastic wildlife! Plenty of stories to share.
Teach, Learn, Share
I think if one keeps their mind open, they can learn something from everyone, and if they're dedicated, they can learn anything they want. I'm trying to learn mandarin, and am thinking about learning a coding language some day soon. I'm also developing ideas about how to get a nice aquaponics set up going, and have explored biochemistry, psychology, popular science and philosophy at some length.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Local restaurants, good pubs & hiking trails.
