ABOUT ME

I'm an English major at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, IA in the US. I love going on adventures and doing things that I've never done before. I spend a lot of time reading, running, playing outside (frisbee, biking, tennis, volleyball). I love trying new foods, (out to eat as well as cooking at home). Dancing and sharing stories are two of my favorite activities. I'm pretty spontaneous, and I don't need a schedule or an elaborate agenda to enjoy myself in a new place.

I try to take a positive outlook on life and situations, and I really strive for keeping an open mind in trying new things and understanding other people.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm incredibly new to traveling and couchsurfing, as I'm still fairly young, but I hope to meet new people that show me new things and tell me about their experiences.
But! I have surfed in both Berlin, Germany and Stockholm, Sweden. Both of my experiences there have been fantastic, and it was an awesome opportunity to make new friends and learn more about the world. I would love to start hosting!

I spend a lot of time searching for new music, books and movies. My current favorite music is Florence + the Machine, St. Vincent, Arcade Fire, Foster the People, Portugal. the Man, Local Natives, A$AP Rocky, and a hodge podge of other random artists.
As for TV, right now I'm fairly addicted to Bob's Burgers, Workaholics, Supernatural, and Arrested Development.
I can never remember my favorite movies, but I like Tarantino and Wes Anderson as directors. I'm a huge fan of kinda creepy movies like Black Swan, Donnie Darko and Requiem for a Dream. Mostly I just enjoy books, movies, music, and tv that makes me stop and ask "what the... just happened?"
For authors I specifically enjoy Chuck Palahniuk, Haruki Murakami, Louise Erdrich, and F. Scott Fitzgerald, Willa Cather, William Faulkner. I'm always looking for suggestions for new books!

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

I saw President Obama get inaugurated as President in 2009 in Washington D.C., USA.
In 2013 my best friend and I flew to Europe and backpacked across eight different countries staying in hostels and couchsurfing. It changed my life!
I also lived in Iceland for four months attending the University of Iceland as an undergraduate!
