About Me

Travelling is a central part of my life, living in Nicaragua, Madrid and the Canadian Rockies and travelling through central America, hitch-hiking and busking across Europe and I spent 4 months of last year cycling with a friend from Uruguay to Peru which was incredible. I'm about to head off cycling through France and Spain for 5 weeks which I'm really excited about.

I've just finished working as a Primary School Teacher in Glasgow, not quite sure what I'll be doing next, hoping to combine my love of the outdoors and building things with working with young people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've only couch surfed once before but hosted a few times and it's been great!

Interests

I love being outdoors, I grew up in the middle of nowhere in the mountains and so I've always had a very active lifestyle connected to nature. I'm really into building things, from bits an bobs around the house to houses, I love brewing wines from any berries and fruits I can find, and brewing beer although they're fairly hit or miss!

Music, Movies, and Books

John Steinbeck is my favourite author, I love 100 years of solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, House of the Spirits by Isabel Allende, and I really enjoy reading political theory and philosophy, particularly Peter Kropotkin and Errico Malatesta.

I was brought up listening to Dylan, I love all sorts of music from folk to funk, global grooves, particularly Caribbean music; reggae, dancehall, ska, rocksteady, soca.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Cycling 4,000km from Uruguay, through Argentina, Bolivia and finishing in Peru was incredible. So many people helped us out, gave us a place to stay, taught us, played music with us, ate with us...

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love cooking food and for me a meal time is the best opportunity to talk, laugh and get to know people.
