Overview
About Me
I am a 26 year old American guy who's been living in Asia (Vietnam mostly) for the past 2.5 years with my girlfriend. We are on the slow road back to the United States to see some family that we miss but before that we are trying to see as much of Southeast Asia as possible.
We are an easy going couple that don't need much more than a place to lay our heads and a friendly conversation to feel comfortable. Unfortunately, my girlfriend does have type 1 diabetes, so we travel with a cooler full of medicine that needs to stay cold. So, I lied. We need a refrigerator too.
We worked as English teachers in Vietnam for about 2 years (Hanoi and Danang) and now are teaching online when we can to fund part of our travels. We would love to get to know you better to exchange stories about our lives!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
We love to meet new people as we are on the road, as that is one of the best parts about traveling. I never really thought about couchsurfing until now (we have been using hostels and guesthouses up until now) but I read about it on a blog and realized I should look into it. I would be eternally grateful for you to be our first host!
Music, Movies, and Books
Books - Murakami is one of my favorite authors but I love a wide range of books. Non-fiction (mostly history), fantasy, sci-fi, alternative history are some of my favorite genres. I even do a little bit of writing myself.
Movies - Where to start. I'll appreciate almost any movie you sit me down in front of. Long, slow burners to slapstick comedies. I suppose the only kind of movie I actively dislike is the superhero genre (besides the Christian Bale Batmans - those were amazing).
Music - Indie, Hip-hop, Reggae, Jam rock, Electronic are some of my favorites.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
My favorite travel experience was taking 3 weeks on a motorbike to explore the rural reaches of Northern Vietnam. I was able to see some places that tourists (domestic or international) rarely get to and meet some incredible people (even though we could barely communicate most times). The sights were otherworldly up there - majestic mountains and crystal blue rivers. I'd love to tell you more when we meet!
Teach, Learn, Share
I love to cook, write, conversate, and collaborate. I'm not exactly sure what I could teach you - but I'm sure we'd find something, as you always do meeting people.
What I Can Share with Hosts
My positive personality and outlook on life can be shared easily. Also, my adventure stories I would love to share with you. Finally, maybe a free English lesson or two!
