About Me

My name is Samuel. I'm living in France and travelling is one of my hobbies. I like to discover new places and to take the time to visit those. Even if studying takes me a lot of time, I will be very happy to welcome you in my little flat in Paris (13th district) or in my family home in Toulouse during the vacations.
I'm studying Cellular biology at the University and I really like that. I chose a specialization in stem cell biology and I would like to become an investigator in this research area and more specifically in the hematopoietic stem cell field. I'm talkative and I love having fun, meeting new people...
I WON'T BE NEITHER IN PARIS NOR IN TOULOUSE from July 2019 to September 2020 as I'm taking a gap year.
I will be living in Bogotá (Colombia) from August 2019 to February 2020. I'm going to study bioinformatic and programmation there.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I used to travel with my friends or my family and I wanna now travel alone because I think that it will bring me more freedom and also more possibilities to immerse myself on a foreign culture.
I'm on Couchsurfing to meet people and make friends from all around the world. I think that meeting people from all over the world is a good way to open my mind and to understand different things.
Then, I would like to make people discover the city where I live : Paris and the good places to hang out or to eat good french food. During the vacations, I'm living in my home town in Toulouse. It is a dynamic city located in South of France.

Interests

I used to play rugby but a shoulder injury made me stop for a while. I'm going back to it slowly. Then I really like playing football with my friends.
I love taking time with my family : I have a big family and it's a kind of tradition in France to pass the Sunday in family, eating from noon to 5pm !!
Another thing I really like is to take a drink or a coffee with my friends from the University after a long week of courses !

Music, Movies, and Books

I used to only like French rap music but I'm opening myself to new kinds of music since a few years. Right now I'm listening a lot of hip hop music from the UK like Jorja Smith, Loyle Carner, Mahalia, Stormzy, Skepta, Little Simz... and South American music : Monsieur Periné, La Yegros, Juanes ... I'm open to discover new artists !
My favorite film is Intouchables, it's a recent french comedy. In a different style, I love Avatar.
Reading is one of my hobby. When I was younger I only read heroic fantasy but I'm quite bored of this sub genre. I started to read "classics" a few years ago.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Seeing the whole Manhattan from the Empire State Building at night with my parents (2014)

Doing my first solo trip in Colombia : 6 unforgettable weeks (2018)

I could try to teach you a few words and expressions in French ! I think that I may be a good teacher.
