About Me

Howdy! My name is Sam and I'm from the North East of the United States of America. I love music and play the drums myself. I'm currently traveling around New Zealand to meet great people and see and do great things! :)
I've been told I'm pretty funny and always love a good joke.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on Couchsurfing so I can meet locals and really get a good feel of what the local culture and people are like. I've done the 'tour bus' experience and it felt more like a documentary than an actual visit to another country. Hopefully meeting people can help change that

Interests

I'm interested in traveling, reading, writing, drumming, music, and am an avid fan of list making. :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: for music I love a bit of rap, yo, as long as it's interesting to dissect and the lyrics are clever. The Ocean by Deca.

As for movies I love weird and animated movies like "Village du panique" a French claymation film. I'm always up to watch movies and want to branch out into horror films even though I'm A bit of a wimp around it.

For books I love reading, and am currently finishing a book called The Vorrh (which is weird and wildly wonderful), and I've read a fair number of classic stories and love dissecting them and reading them.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was slated to perform the drumming part for the musical 'once on this island' (which is mostly hand drumming) a few years ago. The performance was in November, but in late October I had a nasty spill and fractured my elbow. Despite the immense pain of having a 'broken' arm, I still managed to play for the practices and performances through the might of willpower and prescription medication.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd love to learn more about the culture and the people here. I'm visiting in order to just that. I'd also like to share in a good meal and trade some stories.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my 'sharp wit' and love of stories. I also know how to make some good Asian dishes like Korean stir fry or Thai basil.
