About Me
IT IS DIFFICULT FOR US TO HOST RIGHT NOW. FEEL FREE TO PUT IN A REQUEST BUT PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT WE WILL MOST LIKELY HAVE TO DECLINE UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
Living in Exeter since December 2019.
We (Sam and Helen) are a couple from Manchester in northern England, now living in Exeter. We have been doing shorter bike tours (week-long and weekends) in the UK and Europe for several years, and from September 2017-July 2018 enjoyed our first truly long distance bike tour around Europe and Morocco. We set off from Glasgow and finished in Sheffield 11 months later. This trip introduced us to Couchsurfing.
After a few months in Sheffield we lived in Mainz, Germany. We enjoyed hosting here until our landlords asked us to stop, hence the gap in references. We are glad to be able to invite the world into our home once more.
Since our eleven months of travel, we have hosted as much as we can, to give back some of the generosity we received as cycletourists, and also to meet people from around the world and share in their experiences. We have been using warmshowers.org in addition to this site. We speak English, German (Helen is fluent, my German is okay) and a few words of French and Spanish.
If you stay for a day or two, we can feed you, and if you stay a little longer, feel free to use the kitchen.
We love meeting fellow cyclists.
Climbing is our current passion, so if you climb, we'd probably like to hear from you!

Thanks, and we look forward to meeting some of you soon!
PS - Try to let us know why you are couchsurfing rather than taking a hotel, and why you want to stay with us specifically. Copy and paste requests, or those that are in no way personalised, just don't feel good to read. Thanks!

Music, Movies, and Books
The Mars Volta is my favourite band (Omar Rodriguez-Lopez is my idol).
Synecdoche New York is my favourite film. It is the directorial debut of Charlie Kaufman, who is best known for writing Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Being John Malkovich: also great films.
David Foster-Wallace, The Dark Tower series by Stephen King and anything by Terry Pratchett. Lots of non-fiction.

Teach, Learn, Share
We can try to convince you why cycling is a great way to travel (if you don't already know). We can take you bouldering, or show you some nice walks. I like to listen and to discuss. The philosopher in me likes to debate, but I generally like to get along.
