About Me

Whether it be chilling in the living room with some friends and a couple beers or going out to the bars and meeting complete strangers, I always try to have fun and make the most of everything. Life is too short to be doing anything else.

I believe that to learn is to live.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love the spirit of the couchsurfing community. To go out, see new places, meet new people, and experience the world with childlike wonder. And doing so with people who share that same spirit makes it ten times better! Besides, staying with locals who know the area probably saves everyone quite a bit of trouble.

However, ultimately I want to learn more about myself and my place in the world. Essentially, when I die I want to know that I wasn't a giant asshole haha. My belief is that by conversing with others I am able to live through their experiences and gain a little better understanding of my own world.

Interests

MUSIC. I play violin, piano, drums, acoustic guitar, bass guitar and harmonica. I also sing and beatbox. Jamming is one of my all time favorite things to do. It never gets old! In fact, I was in a college acappella group, and we used to jam all the time. Still lovin' it.

FITNESS. The gym is a safe place for me, and my favorite workouts are calisthenic exercises. I love playing ultimate frisbee, going for bike rides, jogging in the great outdoors, hiking up mountains, snowboarding down them, rollerblading in the urban jungle, and of course breaking ankles on the basketball court. On my list of accomplishments is completing the Tough Mudder, the Spartan Beast, and riding a bicycle solo from Michigan to Georgia.

STRANGERS. I love hearing other people's stories. One time, I gave a homeless man $20 in return for sharing his story with me. I believe everyone has a story no matter how "normal", "uneventful" or "boring" you think your life is. I'd like to think I'm humble enough to learn from anybody.

FOOD. I am not a picky eater, and I enjoy trying new cuisines. I'm always down to try delicious food, and even if I don't end up liking the food, I realize that there is history, politics, and philosophy in that food. And I love how I can learn about those things from eating.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Completed a solo bicycle tour from Michigan to Georgia in 14 days. I had absolutely ZERO experience, but I finished the 900 miles strong. Incredible learning experience, and I have lots of tips if it's something you might be interested in.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would love to be your host! (only if you are a clean/tidy person though)

Since moving back to the Seattle area from Michigan where I went to school, I have been like a tour guide for lots of my friends who have wanted to visit Seattle. I feel like I have a good grip on what are the must-see attractions of the great Pacific Northwest. I grew up in the area as well, so I can share with you my perspective on all things Seattle and what it was like growing up here. That way, you can get a feel for what it's really like to be from the Pacific Northwest.

What I Can Share with Hosts

It just so happens that I am an extreme neat freak. If you have something that needs tidying, I am more than happy to help. I'm a natural organizer :D

Interested in the art of Beatbox? I can absolutely give you some lessons. I did beatbox in my college a cappella group and have performed at least 2 or 3 dozen times. I led a workshop on beatboxing and I have taught some of my a cappella peers as well. It's all about the Boots and Cats. Props if you even know what that means haha!
