About Me
Hey! I'm Sam, a student reading History at Durham University.
I'm currently on an Erasmus year at Heidelberg University in order to improve my German language skills and have a lot of fun.
The weather is beautiful and as I spend most of the time at my girlfriend's place, I am happy for people use my room throughout June. She's leaving Heidelberg at the end of June, so I'll need it back by then!
I grew up partly in Tokyo, Japan and partly in England in Buckinghamshire.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To meet interesting and travelled people, especially those with a good story to tell!
I have little money, but would still like to travel!
I love travelling, playing sport, but oddly enough I'm also a keen chess player >
I really, really want to play at the 2016 British Chess Championships this year, having qualified for the main event > It's in Bournemouth from the 23rd July - 5th August, so if you happen to have any couchsurfing acquaintances who could help out, this would make a dream come true.
I simply can't go if I have nowhere to stay and Bournemouth is so so expensive.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Playing junior chess for England from the ages 11-18 was of course great, but winning a league title with my mighty (okay, small and local) U15 football team in 2009 has got to be my proudest achievement.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach chess from beginners to hardened amateurs!
As a student of history, I can help if you want me to read over work, which I enjoy doing.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I make great bacon sandwiches and smashing cups of tea.
Funny stories.
Reasonable football skills.
Advice for what to do in Durham (my uni), in Buckinghamshire where I'm from, or in Heidelberg (Germany), where I've spent a year abroad.
Strong command of German language.
