About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To learn how to be the best version of me I can be.

ABOUT ME

I seem to be a perpetual student and fortunately life is a great teacher. I have just finished a degree in Middle Eastern studies from a University in Sweden, which sounds like an odd combination, but was one that put me in contact with some wonderful people and gave me the freedom to study without the burden of debt I would have acquired in the UK. I am soon to be married and will I hope have the chance to travel over the coming year, no plans are finalised, however Turkey and Morocco seem the most likely destinations.

I enjoy surfing, reading, football, cinema and music of all sorts. I am fairly interested in current affairs and very interested in theology and the beliefs people have about the world, universe and everything inbetween!

PHILOSOPHY

I am a Muslim and believe in God's absolute uniqueness, wisdom, splendour and beauty, which Human beings have a very limited ability to comprehend. Part of our purpose in life is to acquire knowledge, through which we can gain a greater understanding of God and ultimately come closer to that reality. By cultivating attributes such as wisdom, compassion, gratefulness and humility we can develop those attributes needed to realise what it means to be fully human and to be human is to be close to God. Life is the journey or the process through which those goals can be achieved.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

An infrequent user though I grew up with parents who hosted many guests and always enjoyed getting to know those people who stopped by in our life. I hope to be more actively engaged in the couchsurfing community in the years to come.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Music, Movies, and Books

I have always been into biographies and human stories. Currently I have read more and more on theology, philosophy and spirituality. History and in particular the history of Britain and of Islamic civilisation are of particular interest to me. Any suggestions though would be greatly appreciated.

Cinema Paradisio, Life is Beautiful are a few that come to mind. Monty Python humour is my kind of humour.
I love soul music, Otis Redding, Sam Cooke, Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin and a singer songwriter who are able to turn a great story into music, Paul Kelly, Rodriquez and Bob Dylan being some examples.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Perhaps not amazing, but I am very proud to be raised within a family that travelled the world and fostered a compassionate and inquisitive lifestyle that I try to observe.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am a qualified English teacher and Would like to learn languages, particularly Arabic. I would be happy to Enter a mutual relationship to learn different languages, together. Also I'm trying to learn the ukelele too, If you could help :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Good conversation, help with chores and housework, my limited array of meals i can cook and an eager listener looking to learn from people :)
