Overview
About Me
I'm a university student in Pisa, Italy. Being more introvert than you would expect knowing me for the first time, I like to get to know people slowly and deeply, discovering them one piece after another. The same goes for places and cultures. I like every kind of piece of culture, artistic or not. I like being able to help. I like things that tell histories and people that tell histories. I like getting inspired by what I see, in unforgettable flashes carefully designed in my brain. I like learning things and talking about things I know, but I'm also incredibly fascinated by what I don't - and probably I will never - know, though it may be hard for me to face this reality.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm a medical student in Pisa, a town almost everyone knows about for just one reason (the leaning tower) and goes to for aproximately the same reason (the leaning tower). I look forward to experiencing a different kind of travelling, though: one where the meaning of travelling is none but travelling itself, motivated by the incredibleness of the constantly changing people, environments, surroundings, cultures, tastes, smells and colours and sensations you can find opening your door wide enough to sneak out and enjoy the world. Travelling changes you, that's for sure, and often if not always it does it for the better. Couchsurfing is, for me, a way to do that and in the future, I hope, to help other people do that anyway I can.
Interests
People, music and books make up plenty of my free time. I also love walking in every form: hiking, quietly wandering around a town, running etc. I like working together to reach a goal, be it an exam, the organization of a trip or a project in my university. Science is a big interest that's intertwined with what I study: I like to see things from a scientific point of view, but I often move briefly (and very fast) to another, more irrationalist, way of thinking.
Music, Movies, and Books
Music: a selection of almost every kind, trying to be free from prejudices. I'm currently more on jazz and classical than rock/pop/othermodernmusicgenres.
Movies: My favourite ones are "La Dolce Vita" by Federico Fellini and "C'era una volta in America" by Sergio Leone. Miyazaki's "Spirited Away" follows shortly.
Books: I'm a fanatic who will read (almost) everything that's well written. I hold Camus, Kerouac, Wallace Stevens and Dylan Thomas among my favourites, but it's difficult to choose.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Realizing the enthusiasm that should allow me to draw my sketch in the big painting of life.
Teach, Learn, Share
I have very little that I think I'm able to teach, other than a few jokes. Still, I think that the biggest lessons are learnt and taught without really meaning it or realising it.
I am very willing to learn almost everything, though it may seem an excessively humble thing to say. The truth is that if people speak to me in a way that I can feel connected with them, I am very receptive to every kind of stimulus, whereas I can listen for hours to people whose talking means little to me (for every reason) without really getting anything from them.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I tend to be a little jealous about my clothes and (eventually) my books, but, apart from that I'm going to be willing to share every inch of my self, even though not every moment might be the perfect one for that!
