ABOUT ME
Hi! I was born and raised in southern Louisiana, but my family lives on opposite coasts of the US so from an early age I've had some pretty incredible opportunities to see things from a different frame of reference than the one in which I grew up. My parents are both college professors, which meant that they had summers off and were able to travel with me and my sister--both domestically and abroad--which has also contributed enormously to the person I am today. For my last two years of high school I went to a public boarding school (no, it wasn't because I got in trouble!) and that was where I learned how to get along with just about anyone. After high school, I went to college where I studied English Literature, but also became fascinated by Old English, linguistics and language (specifically French). My junior year of college I studied in Nantes, France and had a mind-bogglingly incredible experience, which is why post-graduation I chose to teach English in France! I love to cook and to try new foods (I feel that eating is one of the best ways to experience a new culture) and I'd love to cook for or with you! Or even enjoy your cooking...I'm open to whatever! I love meeting new people and throughout my travels I've come to realize that 99% of the people in the world are so good, and welcoming, and open. That's what I'm looking forward to most with this CouchSurfing project, so I hope that one day I'll get to meet you!
PHILOSOPHY
Be open minded, flexible, and curious about the world around me. I hope to never lose my desire to explore and learn. See "People I enjoy" below
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Previously my living situation did not allow me to host people. Now that I am living in my own place, however, I hope to be able to give back to the Couch Surfing community by hosting people and showing them around town.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
My first couch surfing experience was when I was traveling with a friend who had already been on couch surfing for some time. The experience was absolutely amazing. I got to see a city through the eyes of a native, which was much more rewarding than just wandering around the typical tourist locations. I look forward to hosting people now, to get the couch surfing experience from both sides, and, of course, I hope to couch surf on any of my future travels!
