Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on Couchsurfing because of a friend I've known for years. He's a traveler and since he's much older than me I've always wanted to be like him in that sense. Adventurous and always have an exciting story to tell. He told me about couchsurfing and how many awesome people he had met while surfing around the world. I started using it and have hosted 4 awesome people at the time and we are still in touch.

Now I will be living in Japan for 14 months starting on February 2016 and I want to meet people that can help me with my Japanese and since its a new country I've never visit to meet locals which I can hangout and know the country even more.

Music, Movies, and Books

MUSIC

First of all I'd like to start with Jazz music. Miles Davis, Ella Fitzgerald, John Coltrane, Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, Theolonious Monk, and many others. Also, new fusion bands such as Snarky Puppy.

I enjoy R&B / Soul music. Both classics and contemporary neo-soul type as well. Good ol' Rock n' Roll, Crossroad Blues and Folk music are also favorites. As a musician I feel like I like most "World Music" from diverse countries. "Classical" composers such as Tchaikovsky, Hayden, Prokofiev and Gershwin.

I could keep going and going. MUSICIAN HERE! Hehe

MOVIES

Quentin Tarantino movies, classic Mob movies, I'm a sucker for Spy movies as well. I like StarWars' original trilogy. Don't know why but I'm a Will Ferrell fan, his comedy is hilarious in my opinion.

BOOKS
Dan Brownish type books. I love thrillers and exciting books with twisted conclusions. GAME OF THRONES book series (I'm reading Clash of Kings)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In January 2014 I traveled to the Amazons in Colombia as a volunteer with a social-help organization called Water and Life (http://misioninc.org/aguayvida) . As an nonprofit organization they dedicate themselves to built and maintain water-wells that provide clean water to native tribes and communities in the area that lack of it.

It was a wonderful experience to serve in a few of these communities in Colombia and Brazil. I would encourage every surfer not only to travel more but to serve in other countries to different causes that help people in need.
