About Me

I am a young open-minded person, who loves to travel, learn something new every day, see something new every day. I like to keep things simple and value even the smallest details in our every-day lives. I like to meet up with new, interesting people in new, interesting situations, and then on the next day i want to curl up with my book under a blanket and stay there for the day.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The reason being here is simple - I travel. I prefer couchsurfing because I love to meet up with different people who I'd otherwise not get to know. It is an opportunity to get great experiences.
I can't host myself unfortunately at the moment. Once I land back home - which is currently in Amsterdam - I will be excited about the opportunity to host and to give back to this community!

Interests

I love to read - there's always room in my bag for a book. Even if it's 700 pages and weighs a ton, I'll throw out something less valuable from my backpack and still carry it around with me.
I always have my headphones and music with me, haven't spent a day without them in ages.
I love photography, I haven't had the chance to practice it for a while but when I can, I like to dabble around with my camera and go hunting - I like to find compositions to capture from my surroundings.
I love chocolate and wine. And cheese. And eating, really. And craft beers. I cook, mostly vegetarian with an occasional fish, fresh and yummy. Can't function without breakfast.
I love hiking and moving around. I'd choose a day out in nature any time over a fancy dinner, I'd just take a picnic basket.
I also love animals and pets. I've offered foster care a couple of times, to dogs and to cats, and I love, love, love them so much. In my opinion that just reflects my kind a warm personality :D

Music, Movies, and Books

Music - I have grown up on rock music like Led Zeppelin, Th Rolling Stones, AC/DC etc. My first artist after who's music I rocked my cardboard guitar (I was about 7 years old maybe) was Lenny Kravitz. The flipside of the guitar was a violin which i "played" after my dad's Vanessa Mae tape, but I grew out of that.
In general I like a variety of styles, recently I've been most into triphop and dub, e. g. Tricky, I am totally entranced by Chinese Man. I like electronical such as Chet Faker (I like jazz and blues, too, that's why I love Chet's music).
When i go running I listen to hiphop, when I have a day off at home I might listen to Marvin Gaye, the Beatles or Vivaldi.
Books - i have some books that I just love to bits and can't imagine my life without. First place (or places) - Harry Potter, all the books. This is my entire childhood. I love Irvine Welsh - Trainspotting, Skagboys, Filth. Anthony Burgess's Clockwork Orange is a masterpiece in my eyes. Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts is my recent favourite. Some more books - Master and Margarita by Bulgakov, Germinal by Zola, The Trial my Kafka, and whenever i need to laugh there's Terry Pratchett with his Discworld series.
Movies I don't watch that ofter, but I still have some favourites - This Must Be The Place, Under the Tuscan Sun, A Clockwork Orange, Fight Club, Rockn'Rolla, Baraka.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I didn't feel like I was doing the right thing in the university I was at a couple of years ago. But I felt a strong obligation to do it. Eventually I stood up to that need to do something just because you think that people around you expect you to do it, quit the uni and opted for a vocational education that I had secretly dreamed about - so now I am a furniture restorer and a carpenter. So in conclusion - the amazing thing for me was that I was able to change my perspective and stay true to myself, something I consider to be of utmost importance and something that we all sometimes fail to do. I feel that it gave me the courage to make and to choose my own path, instead of blindly following one.
