About Me

Hey you!
As you can see, my name’s Sandra and I’m a gal from Estonia. I currently live in Sofia, Bulgaria and I’m here doing my EVS. I'm working in an NGO that specializes in working with kids and teens. I've organized a youth exchange under the Erasmus+ programme, done art projects with children and a 4 month long project about active lifestyle. In everyday life I contribute to the organization by working on the media side - I take pictures of the events we host, help with videos, edit the footage, write articles and in addition I'm taking web design courses to learn more.
So, what am I like? I’m a tad bit Estonian (now with some Balkan quirks) — I seem cold at first and once you get to know me better, we’ll be drinking and making dark jokes.
I'm a new member and well, you can notice a lack of friends and references on my account. It's quite hard to get started, so don't be thrown off by it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I’m on this platform to meet new people and not to wake up in another hostel, listening to someone masturbating near me. Mm, memories. I heard some dope stories about couchsurfing from some of my friends, so I decided to check it out for myself.
I'll be traveling a lot, but I'll also try to host people whenever I can. :)

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to many variations of rock: classic, alternative, indie, psychedelic, folk etc. Besides that, I like Arabic, Turkish and Roma folk music. Kind of an odd mix, I know.
Some examples what I listen to: The Smiths, Pink Floyd, Of Monsters and Men, Oasis, MGMT. I'm also weirdly addicted to the USSR anthem. Say what you want about communism but they produced some damn good tunes.
Favorite book series, hands down, is Harry Potter. I generally like to read historic books that are somewhat related to real life and travel books. I don't judge though -- give me a book and I shall read it. I generally pick out random books from second hand stores and sale sections and hope for the best. If you know Estonian (God knows for what reason), check out "Minu ..." series. It's a book series where different authors write about their experience living in a foreign countries.
I can’t really choose a favorite movie but my favorite series are Sherlock, GOT, La Casa De Papel and Peaky Blinders.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Instead of one I’ll give y’all three because you deserve it.
I ran away from a church camp in the Netherlands when I was 14 to find a coffee shop. I got caught.
I moved away from my parents’ house to live, work & study in the capital of Estonia (Tallinn) when I was 16 and moved abroad alone when I was 17.
I’ve experienced 3 earthquakes in my life during the same night. Slept through all of them.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Beer. That’s all one needs. Ah, I can also teach you some Estonian words and phrases that you will most probably never use in your whole entire life.
