Resumen
Sobre mí
CURRENT MISSION
I'm traveling a lot this summer (2019), but may be able to host if I'm in town.
ABOUT ME
I spent many years traveling for work; staying in Hilton properties (loved those points), working on my laptop at the hotel bar or restaurant, and thinking that's how it's done. Boy, was I wrong. Not saying those were wasted years; I was successful and happy, but now that I'm older and wiser, I've realized that I need to slow down and enjoy life.
PHILOSOPHY
I try to live a positive life, but have good days and bad. Just trying to minimize the bad. Constantly growing and evolving mentally and physically.
Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
All of my couch surfing experiences have been incredible and rewarding - both as a host and as a surfer. I have met some of my best and dearest friends through Couchsurfing. There's something about the trust and open-minded attitude that Couchsurfers share that is so refreshing in this crazy world we live in.
Intereses
I'm a huge history buff and am addicted to my World Geography app. I love learning from people and their experiences, and I'm constantly researching where I want to travel next. I HAVE to be outdoors. I recently had major surgery and was homebound for 2 weeks. I thought I was going to go crazy. The desert is my medicine.

Música, películas y libros
Huge sci-fi fan, love comedies and upbeat movies. Don't watch television. Love all kinds of music. Read everything. My latest favorite book is Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind by Yuval Noah Harari.
Algo increíble que he hecho
Taking care of my Mom during the last 4 months of her life. It was extremely difficult, but I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. My Mom was my best friend. Orphaned in Japan at the age of 5 during WWII, she met my father after the Korean War and they were married for 60 years. She didn't have any regrets in life and always faced the world with a smile and a song. She told me to "get out there and enjoy life" because you never know when you won't be able to. She passed away in March 2017 and I've cut back on work, bought a 5th wheel and try to spend as much time in the outdoors - which is my favorite place to be.
Enseña, aprende, comparte
I can recommend "off the beaten path" places and things to do around Las Vegas and throughout the southwest. As an environmental consultant who works primarily on activities on federal lands, I can share the "real" story about America's environmental laws and regulations.
Qué puedo ofrecer a los anfitriones
I've stayed with dozens of hosts and everyone is different. Some are introverted and some are extroverted; some want to hang out and some don't. After my couch surfing request has been accepted and before I arrive, I try to get a feel for their likes and dislikes (if it's not stated in their profile). For example, are they Vegan? If so, I probably shouldn't bring a Costco chicken. Do they drink alcohol, and if so, can I bring a nice bottle of wine or craft beers for dinner. Can I take them out for dinner and/or drinks, or would they prefer to stay home and cook? I love to cook and am happy to bring ingredients and cook for my host(s). Some of my best experiences have been cooking and drinking wine with my host, followed by hours of discussions about saving the world:-)
