About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Sorry, we cannot welcome anyone at this moment! But see you soon...
ABOUT ME
I ran a cheese shop for the past 10 years until I sold it. I'm now in a period of transition. My husband Johan is a software engineer.
Johan and I (Sandra), we both have lived abroad (Argentina and London). As a teenager, I was an exchange student (in Chicago). During our studies we've met people from all over the world.
We are both perfectly aware of the cultural differences that do exist between people/countries/ cultures but we do believe in universal human respect. Thanks to our experience, we are able to feel at ease in very different geograpical and social circles. We like to have intellectual/cultural exchanges and we are both very sociable.
PHILOSOPHY
We are nothing without the others.
We like bright and colorful personnalities, not necessarily those who make noise and catch immediately attention, but also those who are reserved and need time to warm up.
We like people we can learn from and who are ready to share their experience.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
So far, we travelled in a "classic" way (resorts, hostels, friends' homes...). But we want to experience an alternative and more interesting way of travelling and getting to know people. That's why we think it's necessary for you to read this:
(sorry for the long list, but it's best to state honestly our expectations up front to avoid miscommunications and so you can make an informed decision regarding whether to contact us).
1. We have a cat, so you need to be OK with that allergy- and personality-wise. He is the most gentle and shy creature in the world, but he might curl up on your legs during the night or walk across your head, or meowing for food at 6:00am. He generally does not do that but... who knows? He's a cat.
2. We provide bed sheets and linen but please bring your own towel.
3. We provide free wireless internet access, free access to the kitchen, a place in the fridge for your food, access to washing-mashine and dryer.
4. We have no pb with smokers as long as they smoke outside the appartment.
5. As a simple precaution, we will not provide a key.
6. Ask yourself honestly what you are looking for: if it's just a free room, please don't contact us. If it's a genuine cultural and human exchange, we'll be more than happy to share with you (meal, tourist info, way of living, show you around...)
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
We are on Couchsurfing.org since 2014. So far, we welcomed home several guests, and we had wonderful times with them. Couchsurfing is great to meet new people.
Interests
We love travelling! :-))
(we went several times to the US, South America, China, Marocco, and all around Europe: UK, Ireland, Greece, Germany, Spain, Italy, Hungary, Holland...)
From January to May 2015, we made a long trip in South America . We met a lot of local people in Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia and Argentina.
We always had great human experiences via Couchsurfing.org and we want to continue sharing our experiences!

Music, Movies, and Books
We both love reading (my favorite authors are Jane Austen, Anthony Trollope and Proust). I'm very interested in politics, sociology and society issues, my husband likes science-fiction, comic books, history and economy.
We have wide-ranging interests in TV shows. Our favorites are: The Wire; Breaking Bad; Big Bang Theory.
Recently, I decided to learn how to play the guitar because I love singing (American folk songs from the 70's, like Joan Baez, Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan...)
My husband is more Metallica, AC/DC (early albums) and Therion
