About Me

CURRENT
Until very recently I worked as a commercial manager for a travel company however have decided to quit the corporate lifestyle and take some time out and see what life throws at me. At the moment I am indulging in my hobby of making jewellery whilst also working part time teaching English to foreign students. I did couch surfing a few years ago after a friend introduced me to it when we went to Copenhagen. I've since used the site when I went to japan and Italy and fell in love with the concept. I love to see a place from a local's perspective. I'll try anything once! I think the world would be a better place if everyone travelled, all this planet needs is a little understanding and appreciation of each other. We all want the same things underneath it all; the best for our family and friends , a bit of love and to smile.

ABOUT ME
I'm a reasonably seasoned traveller and therefore I've enjoyed getting along with all different kinds of people from all walks of life. I love a good conversation putting the world to rights and have been told that I'm easy to talk to. Indeed I have just started volunteering for the Samaritans . I'm very respectful of people even though I may not agree; I support the right to an opinion, just don't hurt anyone else. Have a typical British sense of humour which sometimes gets lost in translation but I'm used to working around it.

PHILOSOPHY

Be kind. Not religious but am interested in Buddhism.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Surfing but can reciprocate the hosting when I'm done travelling. Brighton is a fantastic place and still my favourite town (so far).

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Copenhagen, Venice and Tokyo - all very positive.

Interests

Dancing (Ceroc/ salsa), wine tasting, cycling, love history and architecture. Love good food! Also dabble in making jewellery.

Music, Movies, and Books

Life of Brian, Casablanca, the Anchorman, rush, hunger games
Wuthering Heights, half a yellow sun, a thousand splendid suns,
Stereophonics, foo fighters, soul funk blues

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Wild camping in the Serengeti - just mind blowing. You get a sense of our place in the world next to these magnificent animals in their natural habitat.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have been taking a course on how to teach English as a foreign language so would welcome the chance to put this into practise. I'm particularly interested in learning Spanish, learnt the basics a few years ago when I went to Argentina but have all but forgotten it now. One of my interests is history and is what I try and get an understanding of when I visit a place as i feel it gives me a better perspective of the people and culture.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Someone willing to learn and appreciate the host's city/ town and culture and maybe can repay with a bed/ sofa in Brighton in the future!

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Australia, Chile, Cook Islands, Denmark, Fiji, Hong Kong, Japan, Malta, New Zealand, Spain, Tanzania, United Kingdom
