Resumen
Sobre mí
I was born in Princeton, my dad is American and my mom is German, but I grew up in the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland. I've just graduated from high school and am eager to meet people and explore the world around me.
I feel partly American and partly Swiss and find that my identity reflects some of the aspects of both of these countries, but I don't feel 100% one or the other. Somehow I'm never completely at home.
Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing
I'm taking a year off between high school and university and am spending six months in the United States, mainly living with my grandmother in the San Francisco Bay Area. During the last month of my stay in the US, I will be traveling towards the East Coast, visiting family and friends and exploring places like Washington, D.C. and New York City. This trip seemed to me a good opportunity to try Couchsurfing for the first time.
Intereses
Although I am interested in just about anything, there are some things which I am more passionate about, like music and philosophy.
I play piano, keyboards and sing. I particularly enjoy making music with other people, in fact I play in a band, Elephant Tree (elephanttree.ch), and sing in choirs.
I have always enjoyed puzzles and brain teasers, the more paradoxical, the better, and I have a tendency to question all basic assumptions which our everyday life relies upon.

Música, películas y libros
There are certain genres that I enjoy more than others, but I believe the quality of music is independent from genre. I don't care about classifying the music I write either, I just play whatever I regard as good music. Radiohead, Stevie Wonder and Bill Frisell are among my favorite artists and composers. Lately I have been getting more and more into jazz.
Some of my favorite books are On the Road (Kerouac), Brave New World (Huxley), Fahrenheit 451 (Bradbury), Novecento (Baricco) and Uno, Nessuno e Centomila (Pirandello). Camus and Rousseau are two of my favorite authors and philosophers.
The Lord of the Rings and Into the Wild are movies I find very interesting and inspiring.
Algo increíble que he hecho
I was the main organizer of a four-week summer camp that took place last summer, in which more than 200 children and teens participated. This proved to be an extremely challenging experience: I started organizing the camp six months in advance and was preparing for final exams at the same time. Even though this certainly was not a simple project, it was definitely satisfying. I really love kids and I strongly believe in education as a means of helping them discover their talents.
Enseña, aprende, comparte
I can help you practice your language skills in German, Italian, French and English.
I can teach you some basics of music theory.
When I was in high school I tutored other students in Math, Physics, English and occasionally other subjects. As I have mentioned, I think education is very important and I like to help other people understand things.
If you have something to share with me that I know nothing about, I am more than willing to listen.
Qué puedo ofrecer a los anfitriones
1) Music. I listen to a lot of it, have a lot of it (most of which I haven't even had the time to listen to yet). I love listening to music with other people and talking about it.
2) Thanks to my international background I have a good insight on various countries and their relative cultures, which is something I like to share with the people around me. My friends in Switzerland frequently ask me about life in the United States and vice versa.
