CURRENT MISSION

Just realized that my 9-5 was limiting me to a depressingly closed system. Currently trying to break out of that lifestyle and also undo the years of corporate and societal conditioning.

ABOUT ME

I am a contradiction of sorts ranging from whimsical to grounded when I need to be. I love roughing it outside in the dirt but I also like working on perfecting a recipe at home. I am big on self-reliance and navigating through life on my own terms instead of the other way around. I just want to learn how to do a bunch of stuff. Hopefully from loving people who will be gentle with me. I know how to grow food but right now I'm in the stage where I just want to grow friendships.

PHILOSOPHY

Nothing people do or say really fazes me anymore BUT ...it took a lot of self-realization and reflection.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Whether through CS or not, I've always been willing to lend the futon or floor to someone who needs a place to rest their head. Usually people open up real fast about their experiences and adventures and I love just listening because it feels like a trip in itself.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I recently went on a random trip to Tempe, Arizona in the dead heat of summer. I met a fellow and his buddy underneath some restaurant misters while I was walking into town. We started up a conversation and we started laughing like crazy at a comment he made (I can divulge in person what he said). Well. we bonded and I ended up staying on his couch for a night and he graciously showed me around town too. It was definitely cool and a chance to see the couchsurfing community so active. Just so nice to be welcomed like that.

Interests

Walking through dense forests, biking to get somewhere, swimming in a lake, looking at trees, going to National Parks, picking wild foods, identifying and eating weeds, growing stuff in my backyard, observing people, helping people realize stuff, encouraging the sad, reading all day and all night cuz I can't put it down, waking up at dawn's light to have a heartfelt conversation with someone.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I went to Waimea on the Big Island and stayed at one of the taro farms deep in the valley. There were hardly any roads so we scaled creeks and stuff. It was so untouched and picturesque, I just about wept. Did I mention that after the harvesting, I hand ground the taro into fresh poi? It was utterly magical...
