About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To live life to its fullest while I have the energy!

ABOUT ME

I am 5'4", black hair, blue eyes. Very sarcastic and witty. Fun loving, energetic and love adventure.

I change my hair color like some people change their clothes! I get bored easily so want to keep things interesting I suppose. My style changes almost just as much because I find these are different ways to explore ourselves and keep things fresh!

I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. Living in such a place really creates an accepting and open mind. Because there are so many different cultures, religions, sexualities, etc. in such a small place and learning from all of these people everyday is an amazing experience. Basically it is very hard to shock me so people feel very comfortable talking to me.

I am very adventurous and usually up for anything. Be it skydiving, potholing (spelunking), swimming in a lake under the stars (even if it freezing cold!), dancing on a bar, anything! I have done some crazy things in my life and they all contribute to who I am today.

I think life is to be lived. I don't want anything to pass me by.

PHILOSOPHY

Those who fear death do not enjoy life.

I had a very difficult childhood and once I got away from all of that I decided I would let nothing hold me back or trap me in place I didn't want to be. So I took risks, and I had experiences to help me get to that state of mind. Life can be very frightening at times but unless you fight through that you will never know how wonderful it CAN be. You have to change perspective and see the beauty it has to offer even when things seem like they can get no worse. This is the reason I have a giant Phoenix tattooed on my back. You have to rise above the ashes to see the dawn. Many people have to remind themselves of that every day of their lives.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have always loved travel! Once I started I couldn't stop. Any chance I get, I take. This means that at times I have only had the money for a plane ticket and did not know where I would eat or sleep upon my arrival. But it never stopped me and I don't want it to stop anyone else from experiencing their life and all the world has to offer. Couchsurfing is an amazing way to do this and really helps develop an understanding and connections with other cultures.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My Fiancé and I have couchsurfed and freeloaded our way across Australia and New Zealand. When living in San Francisco I shared my couch with many a traveler. So now I want to do the same here in London. Friends, family, friends of friends...and friends yet to be made. I love having people around to learn from and show around.

One experience that amazed me was when we had a friend visit us in San Francisco. I took him to Half Moon Bay to see the harbor I knew so well. When we arrived, he went running down the dock snapping pictures. He had never seen pelicans before! I grew up with them always around so they were nothing special to me. He took an entire roll of film of just pelicans. It was so awesome to see how excited he was over these birds and it made me see things in a completely different way.

Interests

EVERYTHING! There is so much! I suppose there is very little I am not interested in.

I am very much into Forensics, obviously. This aspect of my life gives me a bit of a morbid interest in morbid things but that is part of my job and something I must have to survive it.

When I was younger I wanted very badly to become an artist or an actress. These dreams never really died but I became interested in the sciences very early as well and that is the direction I took my career. However, my love for film and art is still very much present. I am trying to nurture that side of myself and get back into the arts. I enjoy photography, museums, painting and sketching. Just art!

In SF I would often go out to clubs and dancing until 5 AM, nearly every night of the week. Other nights I had no problem staying in with a glass of wine and a film. So either way an evening goes, I am not disappointed.

I grew up camping, fishing, kayaking, sailing, snorkeling, scubadiving (working on my certification soon). So I love doing all of these things. Anything that allows some exploration.

There is just too much to list!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went swimming with dolphins, in Kaikoura New Zealand, in the wild. It was like nothing I have ever experienced.

Other amazing things I have done... probably should not be posted on this site.

Teach, Learn, Share

I used to teach chess, so if you wanna learn, I am your lady.

I want to learn to Tango like you wouldn't BELIEVE. I love dancing, but I have never taken anything for long enough to do it well. I know a bit of tap, a bit of ballet, and I dance like a madwoman at clubs, etc. But I am dying to Tango. I also want to learn how to get in shape and STAY that way (I am getting married in October and I wanna look GOOD then and thereafter!)

I love to share information or stories about anything I can, and I love to receive such information and experience as well.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Austria, Bahamas, Cayman Islands, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, New Zealand, Thailand, United Kingdom
