About Me

I used to work as a biomedical engineer for 6 years in a heart valve company. I have my BS and MS in biomedical engineering, but I quit my job at the beginning of 2018 to find and pursue my passions in life. I believe there is more to life than just working in a cubicle all day. I love traveling, connecting with nature, and started volunteering, mainly at monasteries/meditation centers now. I am also pursuing my yoga certification.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love traveling and meeting people to share ideas about this life we are all trying to figure out. The more new perspectives in life, the happier I become! What better way to accomplish both these interests than couch surfing?

After my first day of my first couch surfing experience, I decided that whenever I happen to settle down that I would always keep space open to host other couch surfers. I've fallen in love with the community and I hope to do my part in helping others on their journey just as my hosts have done for me.

Music, Movies, and Books

I've been binging on (mostly non-fiction) books the past few years with no signs of stopping:
Autobiography of a Yogi - Paramahansa Yogananda
The Celestine Prophecy - James Redfield
Flatland: A Romance of Many Dimensions - Edwin Abbott
Why Buddhism Is True - Robert Wright
The War of Art: Break Through the Blocks and Win Your Inner Creative Battles - Steven Pressfield
Ascent to Spiritual Illumination: Ten Lectures on Spiritual Practice - Swami Ashokananda
Healthy Mind, Healthy Body; New Thoughts on Health - Ramakrishna Society
Concentration and Meditation - Swami Paramananda
Tha Bhagavad Gita - Scripture
The Holographic Universe - Michael Talbot

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Broke out of the mold and quit my perfectly safe and mundane corporate job after 6 years! It was so comfortable I could have stayed there for the rest of my life and been financially great. But nope, there's just way more to life.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm in the process of getting my yoga certification from the oldest yoga school in the world close to Pune, India. I started volunteering on farms because I wanted to learn about growing my own fruits and vegetables. But my volunteering has now turned more towards meditation centers and monasteries. I meditate a lot, have learned from monks, have read a ton of Buddhist books on meditation, and can teach you all (I think) I know about it! 😉

What I Can Share with Hosts

Meditation and Yoga! Also endless conversations about spirituality/philosophy/nutrition/diet. I stopped trusting what I was conditioned to believe in all aspects of my life, so I heavily researched how I can improve my daily activities we take for granted (brushing teeth, sleeping, food). I also play guitar and even managed to record some songs with my host during my first CS experience! I've been learning how to play the sitar as well.

Canada, England, Fiji, Guatemala, India, Mexico, New Zealand, Viet Nam
