About Me

Hi, I am Sani. I am originally from the Philippines. I am an accountant by profession, and I have been doing finance work for banks and private firms over the last 6 years. This year, I decided to quit and take a break. I decided to join my partner, Alex, who got a job in Vienna and rest and try living somewhere outside of the Philippines for the first time. We are trying to travel as much as we can around Europe now before my visa expires.

I have been in the Couchsurfing system for years now but I have not tried surfing or hosting yet. This may be the time to finally try it. I have always been a supporter of the idea of sharing your space with someone to meet new people and new friends from all over the world. I believe meeting people from different cultures is the best way to learn about both the world and yourself.

We cannot wait to meet new cool people and share our experiences and stories with them. We are also accepting couchsurfers in our flat in Vienna.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have been part of couchsurfing for more than 5 years now. I signed up because I like the idea of sharing your space to someone who needs one and getting people together to share their knowledge, experiences, and culture. I have, unfortunately, not been able to use the system as much as I would've wanted. I have not tried it cos I was only doing travels mostly with friends. However, I am now at the stage in my life when I want to explore more of the world, and get to know the people that make it rock.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love watching movies - from the classics, the silents, the subtitled, to the trash. My favorites are The Double Life of Veronique, Ali: Fear Eats the Soul, Imitation of Life, Maelstrom, Bright Star, and Exotica.

I also listen to all sorts of music. At the moment, the albums on heavy repeat are those of Kendrick Lamar, Arcade Fire, The War on Drugs, and Perfume Genius.

I am also into reading, but have grown into more of a graphic novel guy the past few years.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was not a hiker before, and the first time I did it was a 5 day hike in Nepal overlooking the Himalayas. I was for sure dead, and loved every second of it. I was instantly a hiking convert. Also tried paragliding there.

We completed a 10 day driving, camping and hiking trip through the Arctic Circle in Lofoten, Norway

Well, maybe also that I'm a certified public accountant

What I Can Share with Hosts

Hmmm other than sharing stories and experiences, I always have my hard drive with me, and it has a vast collection of movies and tv shows in there. I also enjoy cooking so I could definitely cook some healthy dishes and also recipes local to us in the Philippines.
