About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Share, learn, teach, change, communicate. Making the most of life and give my best

ABOUT ME

My name is Gaia, the name was my father who gave me. It means Mother Earth in Greek mythology, there is also the Gaia hypothesis by James Lovelock wich proposes that the Earth as a living organism that creates the conditions for its own survival. In Latin means joy, happyness, en Euskera language of the Basque country means matter, theme. Well, many meanings, a huge responsibility! But I have a feeling that my father made a good choice, I love my name and identifies a little with all meanings, I have a bit of each one of them inside me. I am part of the earth, nature, hija de la Pacha Mama, and my theme is to be always full of happynnes.

To say where come from, I depart from macro to micro, am a citizen of the world, daughter of america, South America, Brasileira, green, yellow and blue. After Vinicius de Moraes I'm the blackest white girl from Brazil. I'm the Macaca from Ipanema, I'm from Rio, the river, am the daughter of the goddess Oxun, the goddess of freshwater, my "Orixá". I am gaucha, carioca y mineira, I'm land, I'm saw, I'm the water, fire and air, I'm just from Visconde de Maua, where the waters will always grow.

Well all this sounds better in portuguese so I gonna translate.:)

This all means that I was born in a small town Visconde de Maua, in the mountains, surrounding of green and fresh water, at Rio de Janeiro state. My parents at the height of the hippie movement, seeking a quieter life. I had a childhood among the trees, horses, flowers, rivers, rocks, friends, art.. a great freedom.

I had to leave my mountains, to face the world, study. Since I had many roomates, I learned much to share spaces, to accept people, people accept me, and I accept myself. I learned from my mother's wisdom "is not all that obvious to me it is obvious to the others."
Living in Rio de Janeiro, babylon, wonderful purgatory City of Beauty and Chaos. City's of samba, the music, the hill, the beach, art, meeting of cultures, coco, Maracatu, Forró music ... In Rio de Janeiro I started the University of Education. Im not sure if gonna be teacher, but I love kids and I hope through education we can contribute to a better world. Educate for a fare world, more humane, more sensitive, artistic, more harmonic with nature. An fight for a education that unites body, mind and spirit.
I work with children developin artistic activities with them, I research and work with children's literature, and events. I study music, circus, street theater, percussion, guitar. I do a little of everything!
I lived three months in Vancouver, I studied English, did a lot of hiking in Beautifull British Columbia. After that I was in San Diego, OB, San Francisco, California. And now studying as erasmus Social education, Bilbao, Basque Country, Spain.

I travel the world to discover new cultures, new ways to live, new points of view. I am passionate about popular culture, cinema, music, theater, children, nature, my family, friends and my country, Brazil. I have great curiosity for the complexity of human beings.

I joined couchsurfing because I love the idea of being part of this great network of solidarity, wich permits we receive people and be received by them. I promise to try to be a good guest I good cooker, cleaner and good for talks.
