About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To give my two children, Kai and Sofia, the best parts of myself...and figure out what those things are.

ABOUT ME

Planning an epic roadtrip with my son for the summer and would love to be able to keep accomodation expenses low while meeting new people. We are low maintenance adventurers, with plenty of experience traveling and a positive attitude.

PHILOSOPHY

Lately just trying to remember that there is a magic to life that is but awaiting my recognition. It's always there and available, whenever we choose to see it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've had two great teachers in my life so far. Having children and traveling. Both embody the spirit of life, though in drastically different ways. Now that my son Kai is 12, has a mind, personality, and vision all his own, I find myself very excited to take a trip with him, to watch his wonder and inspiration, to fuse these two great teachers into one and see what happens.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm new to couch surfing.

Interests

I'm kinda sorta trying to be a writer. Lately have been schooling myself in the craft of screenwriting.

Music, Movies, and Books

80's rock. Just kidding. I never met a reggae song I didn't like, and that isn't just because they all sound the same. Midnite, Matisyahu, Shimshai, Freedom Tribe, Sasha Butterfly, world music and such.

I like movies that challenge the viewer, at the very lest give us a little credit.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One time, a lot of years ago, I was going to this Buddhist monastery, a converted house in Ithaca NY, to learn about and practice some simple meditation. There were just a few Tibetan monks who lived there. A handful of people would show up to meditate. Behind where the monks meditated was a simple altar with some pictures, golden little things, and some flowers. I usually always keep my eyes closed while meditating but this time, for the reason I am about to share I guess, I opened them. I noticed one of flowers was dying, drooping over amongst the others. I tried to send it some positive energy so to speak, some 'love' if you will. For just a breath it seemed that all became shadow around us, me and the flower...that we were in a sort of tunnel together, if that makes any sense. The moment passed, I closed my eyes again, and finished the meditation. After the meditation, one of the monks walked over to me, put his hand on my shoulder, smiled down at me, then turned and pointed to the flower. Another monk, who had begun ascending some nearby stairs, stopped smiled and waved at me. The monks had, very clearly, seen me try to connect with that flower. When I think about it, how spiritually attuned they must be, I am still amazed. If the flower got better I don't know.
