About Me

I am a laid back, go-with-the-flow kinda gal. Over the last few years, I've become an avid traveler and love to travel anytime I can, and to anywhere. Having been to some unusual places not normally on most peoples' list, and really enjoying them, I like to be able to form my own opinion and am really open to going anywhere. Maybe someday, I will be able to hit every country, who knows!

I'm also pretty spontaneous, and love trying new things, new recipes, new dances...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I really enjoy meeting other people and staying with them. People live and see their town/city so differently, so I really like getting a feel from actual locals. Though, I have only used the couch surfing site officially once, I've had numerous home stays with local families, stayed with friend of friends, stayed with dancers I've just met, all in various countries. Needless to say, I've been an unofficial couchsurfer for a number of years now. I've made some really good friendships from these stays and hope do to so more officially with Couchsurfing, too.

Interests

Over the last few years, I've really fallen in love with photography through my travels. This world is such a beautiful, peaceful, and chaotic place. I currently sell some of my work at the brewery I work at, but would love to share and sell more broadly someday.

I love partner dancing! I mainly do west coast swing, which is a modern version of swing dancing, but I can also hold my own in other styles such as, Texas two step (sometimes referred to as country western two Step), nightclub two step, blues, and Brazilian zouk.

I love the outdoors, and will use any excuse to get out there. I'm currently working on hiking all of the 46 high Adirondack peaks; I have done 28 so far, so about halfway there. In the winter I'm a huge fan of snowboarding, winter hiking, and ice skating.

From my travels, I have come to really enjoy cooking and baking. I've been a cake decorator for many years and have quite the knack for baking delicious sweets, but I have really gotten into cooking. I try and take cooking classes in other countries whenever possible.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like most styles. Classical to rock to pop to indie to folk and to metal occasionally. Not a huge fan of rap, and am picky about country.

Currently reading: all five books of The Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
I recently read The 100 Year Old Man who Jumped out the Window and Disappeared, and The Further Adventures of the 100 Year Old Man. I highly recommend.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I put together a slideshow of my photos from Iran, and presented them along with my experience traveling there in my hometown. It was very cool to open up conversations about this part of the world and have everything be so well received.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have some great recipes I can share. I can also teach you to swing dance.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Good conversation, or quiet if needed, dance lessons, and good recipes and/or great meals.
