About Me

CURRENT MISSION

The only dream worth having is to dream that you will live while you are alive, and die only when you are dead. To love, to be loved. To never forget your own insignificance. To never get used to the unspeakable violence and vulgar disparity of the life around you. To seek joy in the saddest places. To pursue beauty to its lair. To never simplify what is complicated or complicate what is simple. To respect strength, never power. Above all to watch. To try and understand. To never look away. And never, never to forget.

- Arundhati Roy

ABOUT ME

I am kind, I am relaxed, I am open-minded. I am curious, greedy for knowledge, easily distracted and often confused.

PHILOSOPHY

"I like pigs. Dogs look up to us, cats look down on us. Pigs treat us as equals."

Actually I like cats but I love this quote from Churchill, and maybe we should all be more like pigs

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've stayed with two persons in Mexico, and both have been very kind and generous people, who showed me something of the city. I also used the platform to join events in a citiy I didn't know, and met interesting people, like a girl who knew some waterfalls close to the city so we walked through amazing nature and finally swom in some waterfall lake, which is probably the most beautiful place to swim. Wouldnt have known the place, and wouldnt have found if I had known, and probably wouldnt have walked alone, so in short: I think it's a great platform if you travel and want to connect with other people, let it be locals or other tourists.

Interests

I love art, but also anything creative that doesnt need to pretend its art, I somehow like things that are absurd, I love to dance. I like to discuss and exchange opinions and reflections. I like to have a good time, this can be in nature, at a party or at home with the people I love.

I believe in degrowth, post-growth or steady-state-economies, call it as you like, but I think we should abandon the growth paradigm if we want to live in a sustainable society with enough resources for everyone, where technological progress aims to conserve nature and improve our lives, not just increase consumption (which might randomly improve our lives as well, but might also not so). I dream of a future in which people engage in work they feel is significant, a dont have to do shit they dont want to do, and which doesnt contribute something meaningful to this world. A future in which people have enough leisure time, which is valued over consumption, and this not just for some lucky people like me, who get to be born in a country where you get funding for studying, so you dont have to work so much anymore at least for a certain time (i like this live, though). Ideas like Ecoswaraj and many other communities in this world keep me hopeful.

I also love science, and would have been studying 100 things if I had enough lifes - which basically means I know a little from many disciplines but do not master any. Although staying in academia seems also frustrating and unproductive to me, and I believe in the balance between studying, working (and partying :-) ).

Music, Movies, and Books

The last good movie I watched was "The Crime of Padre Amaro" and my favorite novels are "The Lover" from Marguerite Duras and "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" from Victor Hugo.

I love music from all over the world, especially Balkan music, Klezmer and Oriental sounds, but also R'n'B and Latin stuff. A lot of different genres. To name some random musicians I like: Shadia Mansour, Natacha Atlas, Manu Chao, Shantel, Warsaw Village Band, Laboratorium Piesni, Barcelona Gipsy Klezmer Orchestra, Keny Arkana, Tego Calderon, Mala Rodriguez, Calle 13, ...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The best experiences are probably this little nice moments which I guess are not interesting enough to tell, things like watching together with my 7-year-old sister how a wasp is being eaten by a spider.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would like to practise my language skills and I am happy to help you with yours (in case you would like to learn German - although we all know that life is too short to learn German).

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am adaptive and respectful to your place. I like to cook and share my meals, I like to have conversations in which people share their different experiences and perspectives, and discuss different opinions. I am up for some adventures, and I love exploring places, walk through nature and I am not afraid to get exhausted.
