Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I enjoy meeting people from all over the world, but don't actually enjoy travelling that much, so couchsurfing lets me bring the travel to me!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've been on both sides of the couch, both surfing and hosting, but most of my experience is with hosting. I love meeting people, but I'm kind of a hobbit, so hosting is perfect for me.
Interests
assorted geekery and weirdness: sci-fi, fantasy, steampunk, goth, occult, etc.
I love to explore new places, try new foods, and generally widen my horizons.
I have some physical limitations that prevent me from doing things like mountain climbing or scuttling through tunnels, but other than that, I'm up for most things. It doesn't always have to be "go, go, go" however. Sometimes nothing better than staying in, getting mellow, and watching a movie or listening to music.
I enjoy tour guiding, but can't promise I'm always available.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I can't choose. You'll have to ask me in person.
Teach, Learn, Share
Information wants to be free, and someone needs to spread it. I know it sounds a little ridiculous, but I like to think of myself as a wandering priestess of knowledge. I love to learn and to teach, and I think everyone has something they can teach better than anyone else in the world. Whatever you have to teach, I want to learn it!
In particular, I was for several years, the chair of the math department at a progressive Jewish high school, so math is the thing I teach most. I used to teach Logic at the University of Pittsburgh. In the past, I've taught high school science, writing and history. I was the kabbalist-in-residence at Academy 23 back in the day, and sometimes teach Jewish magic. I've taught demonology, Greek cooking, and sewing before. I also teach how to teach (which is an amazingly empowering skill). There are classes on Witchcraft and Magic at the house every Sunday, and sometimes also on weekends.
My roommate, Christina, is an artist/writer/tour guide whose specialty is Nikola Tesla's time in Pittsburgh. If you ask nice, she might let you tag along on a tour if she has one.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Other than the things listed about under "teach, learn, share", I'm told I'm pretty decent company. :) I love to cook, so if you don't mind me using your kitchen, I'd love to make you something. :) I'm a good storyteller, and I know a lot of mythology; I'd love to tell you some tales. I rarely travel, but when I do, I'm usually traveling for a conference or other event, so I don't always have a lot of free time while I'm in town.
Countries I’ve Visited
Canada, England, Germany, Greece, United States
