About Me

I have travelled and volunteered in East Africa and SE Asia and I am looking to see as much of the world as possible and to do so in a way where I am able to meet locals and get a genuine experience in each country I visit. I really hate being a 'tourist', rather, I am a traveler in search of a meaningful adventure!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am looking to meet up with locals and make some friends so I can really 'get to know' the places I am visiting.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love Wes Anderson films, Life Aquatic is probably my favourite. Royal Tennenbaums and Darjeeling Limited are also great. I can probably act out all of Wayne's World 1 & 2 from memory. Juliette Lewis is one of my favourite actresses, and Johnny Depp and Bill Murray are my favourite actors.

I love drum and bass music, hip hop, indie, and alternative rock. Camo & Krooked, Wilkinson, Teebee, Kasra, Enei, Noisia, Jurassic 5, Beastie Boys, A Tribe Called Quest, Smashing Pumpkins, Pixies, Nirvana, Tokyo Police Club, Metric, Lorde, Florence and the Machine...to name a few of the faves.

For books I usually read non-fiction, I am currently reading 'A letter to a young scientist' by E.O. Wilson, one of my favourite scientists. One of my favourite books was 'Looking for Transwonderland: Travels in Nigeria' by Noo Saro-Wiwa

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Just one??

Climbing the Virunga Mountains in Rwanda to visit the mountain gorillas. Truly the most amazing thing I have done!

Caving and sleeping in the jungle for three days in Phong Na NP in Vietnam.

Learning to dive in the Gulf of Thailand and Andaman sea...I'm just getting started diving and feel right where I belong under the sea!

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to cook and would love to learn more about cuisine around the world. I am also an avid young scientist and love to share that knowledge and learn about ecology of different areas - otherwise known as 'dorking out'. I'm not a total dork all the time and I'm pretty much always game for a pint or glass of wine (or more) at the very least!

Once I return home I am also very willing to offer up a couch or bed to other surfers...if anyone ever wants to come visit the Canadian prairies, now you know someone!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am more than willing to help out with any duties around the house or garden and I have many stories and smiles to share!

Oh, and if you've got animals I'm more than willing to give them a scratch or take them for a walk. I definitely lean hard to the cats side of the great cats or dogs debate, but I love all furry friends!
