I'm a Canadian just starting what I hope will be a long and happy relationship with world travel. I'm currently spending a few months in Australia, which is my first big solo trip. I recently graduated university and after a year working and saving decided it was time to head out for my real education.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My entire trip has been a surprise, including my first couchsurfing experience, which we sort of stumbled into. It was an amazing experience and I can't wait to continue meeting wonderful people this way! I love the attitude it brings to traveling and I think it allows you to see a totally different side of a place.

Interests

I'm a voracious reader, enjoy hiking, adore good food and am particularly fond of a nice rich malty beer (but still love something crisp and refreshing too, not to mention red wine!). I love anything that gets me close to or in the ocean and am currently trying to bring cycling into my travels (trying being the operative).

Music, Movies, and Books

I love just about any books but particularly science fiction and fantasy novels (Elizabeth Haydon, Douglas Adams, Robin Hobb, Terry Goodkind, and on and on). My taste in movies and music is pretty eclectic. For movies I'm always in for horror, a con movie, a terrible romantic comedy, something with Jason Statham (I feel like that's a genre), and honestly just about anything else (I'm pretty fond of movies). Music I like is pretty all over the place from anything bluesy to anything with solid bass all the way to anything I can dance to.
