About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Open heart, open mind, open eyes.

ABOUT ME

I don't feel comfortable staying in one place too long - cities, beaches, islands, deserts, exploring new places and staying there for awhile gets me excited.

I've been living in Melbourne, Australia for about 9 months after a 3 year stint living overseas - 2 years in London on the standard Aussie working holiday visa to bounce around Europe, then a 9 month solo backpacking trip through Spain, Italy and Hungary then South-east Asia, working in a naturist retreat in Andalucia, an international school in Thailand, and a beach hostel on a small Malaysian island.

I like good banter, deep conversation and acting on impulses. Deciding to move to another country on a whim. Saying yes more than no. Throwing caution to the wind etc.

That being said, I can be a bit of a homebody, and love nights in with flatmates, food and wine, especially in the summer sun. I get a kick out of coming up with new recipes, especially vegan and vegetarian meals. I shun nightclubs and bars for beers and darts at my local 'old mans' pub.

I read extensively, books, websites, TIME and The Economist, newspapers, journals and articles. I studied Italian for 12 years at school, and since have attempted to learn Spanish, which has left me quite confused.

My friends would call me a bit of a wild child - I feel a life purpose of mine is to subvert dominant social paradigms and thoughts, challenge these with my actions and words. Stereotyping, racism, and ignorance make my blood boil.

I am very interested in politics and social dynamics, and am very keen to learn more about how society operates in new countries.

I believe where we are born in to is due to a coincidence of circumstance. One chromosome met another in one place, we had nothing to do with that. We could have been born in Somalia, Australia, Russia, anywhere. Every day I appreciate and am thankful for what I have, who I am and where I am now, and I think a lot of people in the world could do with realising the coincidences of life a bit more.

I love summer, running, beers in the sunshine, good food, walking aimlessly in new cities, nature, reading, travelling, living sustainably / off the grid, digital media, flying, good conversation, hugs from close friends, dress up parties, possibilities.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The people, of course.
My closest friend in London I met when he was sleeping on my living room floor; I've met and stayed with several couchsurfers around the world and love the community vibe.
As I've gotten older, I'm reluctant to see a place through staying in hostels. If I want to get blind drunk and party I can do this at home.
When I travel I want to meet people who know the city, who are a bit older (at least in their maturity / the way they are), who are open-minded, who want to share their life and knowledge with others, who are keen to teach and learn from new people.

I currently don't have a living room / lounge in my place so can't offer anywhere to stay. However if you're in Melbourne and i am around i'd like to meet you for a pint or a coffee and share with you places to go, observations on Melbourne life and the like.

Jumping through holes in the earth into underground cenote's in Mexico.

Met Johnny Rotten from the Sex Pistols and told him to fuck god!
