About Me

I just graduated from university with a BSc in Biology. Bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, I have set out to be a part of the real world outside the safe bubble of university. I love to learn, and am quiet and introverted, but love to swap travel stories and stay up late talking about anything interesting, really. I don't party, and prefer a quiet night in to a night out (unless it's a night out dancing ballroom or latin dances!). I am a bit of a dance nerd and love learning new partner dance styles - but I'm also very happy to share what I know! The environment, reading, art and photography are just some of my interests.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am just out of university and looking for low-cost options to be able to explore the world. Couch surfing also gives you a chance to learn more about the city you're in from locals, and to feel more connected to the place you're visiting. I also love to travel, and hear interesting stories from fellow travellers. Hopefully when I have a more stable home, I can return the favour and host some travellers as well.

Music, Movies, and Books

It is very hard to pick favourites - I like most music except hard metal/screamo and the like. Music is particularly appealing if I know a particular dance style that can be danced to it (so my favourite on that front is music you can jive to, and music you can hustle to :) ). The Princess Bride is up there as a favourite. Books: Anything by Tamora Pierce, Guy Gavriel Kay, other fantasy authors - I mostly read fantasy.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I had the privilege of travelling to the Galapagos islands a few years back, and it remains one of the most amazing experiences I've had, mostly because as a budding biologist, it had been a fantasy for a number of years to access those pristine, somewhat untouched islands, and retrace Darwin's steps.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am happy to learn most of what people have to teach. I enjoy practicing my French and Spanish when I can, and learning new techniques for art and photography. I can teach Salsa and Bachata at basic levels, and the basic foot patterns for a number of other ballroom and latin dances. I fenced foil for a few years and would be happy to talk about that as well!

What I Can Share with Hosts

A positive attitude, helping clean, some artwork if time is permitting? I am vegetarian, so I am also happy to cook for the hosts, but would only be willing to cook something vegetarian for you. I don't mind helping with yard work or gardening as well :)
