About Me

Hi! I'm Sarah and am 35 yrs old. I love traveling and learning from others, but now I have a deeper mission. I have stage 4 cancer and I need to prove to myself and to other's out there with this disease, that you can still live a fulfilling and and awesome life, even with a disease that you know will (likely not too long from now) lead to my death. I can't just rot and die alone like is happening now. I have a lot of life left in me, just a limited time frame to live it all in.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Well, as an experience junkie, purposeful wanderer, and lover of the human spirit, I like to get myself out into the world and interact and connect with as many people and ideas as I can feasibly (and sometimes maybe not so feasibly, ha) do so. I am an adventurer at heart, but even we need shelter and a place to sleep when the excitement of the conscious world hands the reigns over to the magic of our dreams. Couchsurfing seems like it would be an optimal way of getting a chance to both travel and learn about new ways of life. I also love the idea of having the opportunity to meet interesting people along my wandering way and I hope that there will be along the way who would want to collaborate on creative projects with me or at least share their life story with me privately if they do not wish to expose their experiences in an overt manner. I do, however, have to jam a whole lot of experience into a shorter than average timeframe, however, as I have stage IV breast cancer that has also spread to my bone (mostly throughout my back). Although stage IV cancer is also called metastatic cancer, I hate the idea of just sitting around and mourning the life I once thought I would get to lead, as opposed to adapting to my new circumstances and celebrating the life that I still have left ahead of me combined with the wisdom I've gained from my past and the resilience I choose to embrace in the present. I hope to make a website soon about living life to the fullest when you know you likely don't have much (year-wise at least) left. I may have metastatic cancer, but I choose to be metadynamic even when I'm frightened and unsure. Couchsurfing will help me not just have shelter in between my travels, but hopefully make new friends and creative collaborations, while paying forward the good that others have done for me in the process and just as a fellow human being trying to get the most that we can out of what's thrown at us in life.
