Overview
About Me
I was born in Munich, Germany and experienced my first transatlantic move when I was about half a year old and my (American) parents moved back to the States. After 10 years later we packed everything up again and moved back to Germany. Since then I've had the amazing opportunity to experience life in Cambodia and Zambia as well and have realized that meeting and understanding people of other cultures and walks of life is one of the greatest joys life holds for me.
I'm very energetic and enthusiastic and love finding out new things (be it exotic foods, odd TV-shows, dancing or a very cool knitting pattern) to get excited about and share with the world!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I don't enjoy typical tourism - racing from one hotel or hostel to the other, where your only contact to the people who actually live in the places you visit is from the back to the front of a taxi or while ordering a meal at a restaurant. I've found that my most rewarding experiences while traveling were when I was really able to connect to people and have them show me THEIR home. I'd love to be able to continue getting to know new people in an authentic, meaningful way and I'd love to be able to share my home with others.
Interests
Psychology, science in general (I can spend hours on Wikipedia reading up on new topics), music (singing, violin, ukulele), hiking, dancing, reading, drawing, board games, and philisophying on Christianity, feminism, and all the above with good friends.

Music, Movies, and Books
Beatles, Classical music and the occasional song on the radio (or Spotify as it is nowadays)
Marvel movies in general (don't appreciate the Hulk much though), most Austen movies, most Disney movies, Star Wars, old comedies (like Mad Mad World and The Odd Couple) and in hard times extremely cheesy romantic comedies
Many many books....am currently reading a novella by Tolstoi (the death of Ivan Iljitsch), Sherlock Homes and Shoot the Damn Dog (by Sally Brampton), because one book at a time is never enough
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
This year I was sitting in the bush in Zambia at sunset, my two college professors were sitting next to me, and a group of adolescent and adult male chimps were sitting across from us, about a meter apart (separated by a fence, duly noted) all sharing in a tasty meal of flying termites crawling up from the ground.
Teach, Learn, Share
I've had the opportunity to teach English and Violin to Cambodian school kids and German to Syrian refugees. In less formal contexts I love sharing knitting patterns, weird cooking recipes and songs I like to sing.
I also love learning new songs. I'm currently learning the ukulele and am desperate for any help on how to strum and pluck and am very interested in learning new dances. I basically like to share any and everything that excites me and am very happy to find out what other people are excited about!
