Through both tutoring and teaching, I want to help students understand that education can have multiple cultural and personal perspectives. There are no right or wrong answers in schooling, just the need to speak from the heart and find one’s passion and calling. I have longed to be a teacher for many years because I believe that all students deserve educational opportunities, regardless of the diverse epistemologies or ethnic communities they belong to. Being of bi-cultural heritage myself, I want to inform my students that education is so important and it can be fastened with stories and experiences that are linked to a particular culture or people. When I graduate from UTSA I will be teaching high school students and preparing them for college, but what I’ll really be doing is giving a group of great young people the chance to dream and envision better solutions for a better humanity and a better tomorrow.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have known friends who have had great traveling experiences, both locally and abroad, with the help of couchsurfing. Plus adventure awaits outside my doorstep, and by inviting others to come to my doorstep.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I recovered from a MRSA infection in my right knee. Several months later I completed an Olympic distance triathlon, ran a half marathon, and did a 25 mile trail run.
