About Me

Hiya, I’m Sarah. I’m 21 years old from Ireland ! I’m friendly, easy-going and fun. I’m kind of a linguistics nerd, and speak 4 languages (almost) fluently. I love meeting new people & finding out about new cultures!!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I’m here because I love to travel. A lot. I’m sure you can relate to this. When travelling I have a way better time when seeing a city/ town through the eyes of a local or somebody who lives in the city as I believe the authentic lives of people in the city is much more interesting than all the tourist attractions.

Couchsurfing is such a good way to do this and also allows us to travel on a budget which is great for people like me who prefer backpacking and saving money for unique experiences.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music:

Honestly I love all kinds of music and how it brings people together.

I listen to a lot of French rap like Nekfeu, Sneazzy and Bigflo & Oli.

Of course I love Irish music and supporting local. My favourite Irish acts would have to be Kneecap, The Mary Wallopers and Sammy Copley.

Currently I’m loving 50s/60s rock n roll/ r&b and blues like Little Richard, Bo Diddley and Big Mama Thornton.

Movies:

I do love a good film but i’m not extremely knowledgeable about cinema in general, but am always up to chat about it and learn more.

I’m loving anything Wes Anderson at the moment.

My favourite films are The Grand Budapest Hotel, Inglorious Bastards and Shrek (it’s a comfort film hahaha).

I also love animation films and recently saw Le Summit des Dieux which was beautifully made.

Books:

I used to be an avid reader and am slowly getting back into it. I read a mix of non-fiction and fiction, I enjoy historical fiction and some fantasy too.

I usually read classics or philosophical works as these get me thinking to most and usually produce amazing conversations!

I’m currently reading Ulysses by James Joyce (one of my favourite authors) and a volume of Audre Lorde’s essays and poetry, which are deeply insightful.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I had lunch above the clouds at the top of Untersberg Mountain in Salzburg, Austria. This has to be one of my highlights, the views were amazing !!

Teach, Learn, Share

I speak 3 languages fluently; Irish, English and French. I am very passionate about this and would be very happy to help anyone with a language exchange. Irish is such a unique Celtic language that I’m sure is unlike anything you’ve heard before.

I also speak Spanish to an Intermediate level and could share and learn in this area!

I have travelled to over 20 countries and would love to share stories and experiences I had & hopefully hear some in return :))

I’m currently Dutch as it seems a really interesting language. I would appreciate if you could maybe help me with my language skills, which are pretty basic right now.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can speak multiple languages so I could help with developing someone’s language skills. I’ve also worked as an English teacher so would be happy to provide hosts with some lessons in exchange for accommodation.

I can cook pretty well, I love to experiment with different ingredients and although what I cook may not look amazing, it always hits the spot.

I am interested in linguistics, philosophy and sustainability and can bring interesting conversations in all these areas. I also am really interested in history and can definitely teach you about the history of my country!
