About Me

I was born in Johannesburg, South Africa and have lived there my whole life. At the moment, I am solo-traveling and volunteering on farms in France (woofing).
When I return to SA, I will finish my Masters degree in architecture.
So, I am an open-minded, empathetic person, who loves to travel, and I enjoy meeting new people and learning about new cultures. I am also very fond of deep conversations over a glass of wine.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm looking to experience and understand the world, learn who I am and see things from different perspectives. I'd love to get to truly understand what life is like in another country, and I think that can best be achieved by staying with people who can show me what it's like. Most of all, I'd like to broaden my mind.

Interests

I am passionate about architecture and having new and different experiences. I am interested in art, music, reading, movies, anything cultural really.
I love photography, sketching and i do freelance illustrations, and I can play a bit of guitar and sing.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I most enjoy music belonging to the indie/rock/alternative genre. Bands like Phoenix, Tame Impala, Alt J, The Arctic Monkeys, MGMT and Lorde. I have seen some of these artists live.
Movies: "Beasts of the Southern Wild”, Amelie", "American Beauty", Richard Linklater films, "Leon The Professional", "Fight Club", "Requiem for a Dream"... Mainly arty, independent films.
Books: "A Catcher in the Rye" - Salinger, "The Elegance of the Hedgehog" - Muriel Barberry, "Half of a Yellow Sun" - Chimmamanda Ngozi Adichie, "A Spy in the House of Love" - Anais Nin

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I did some volunteering work in Swaziland, a poverty-stricken country within South Africa - I helped build a timber house for the homeless.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am passionate about the arts and so I'd love to be able to share that talent with others. I can speak un peu de francais... I'd love to be able to speak it fluently. I'd love to learn new skills, I'm not an experienced chef so learning how to cook would be a treat. I'd love to be more active when I travel.
I can play you guitar or show you some artworks I have done and can tell you a lot about architecture and urban design, as well as what it’s like to live in South Africa.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can bring an exciting attitude to the house, I can teach the hosts a bit about life in South Africa. I'd like to think I'm fun ton enjoy a glass of wine with, and would make a fun companion while exploring a city.
