Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am new to couch surfing but I would love the chance to meet new people and to learn about how they live their lives. I'm interested in learning about the culture of different places.
I came to Bologna, Italy to study for a university exchange and hope to travel a lot throughout Europe now that I am officially on holidays! Before this exchange I had never left Australia, so I have a lot to see and do :).
I may host guests when I return to Australia :).

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have not tried couch surfing officially yet, but I visited a friend in France for a week who offered to host me when we met in a hostel in Italy. It was amazing to gain a window into both French student life, and Mexican culture (as she is a Mexican student studying in France). I also learned a bit about The Netherlands and about couch surfing itself as whilst I was there she also hosted a Dutch friend who she met through couch surfing, and who I will now go to visit in The Netherlands! His experiences with couch surfing had been extremely positive, which left me very keen to try it for myself.

Interests

Meeting new people and sharing knowledge about our cultures and the different places we've experienced. Sport and the outdoors -especially skiing, athletics, hiking and water sports. I also love dabbling in a range of different sports -for example rock climbing, fencing and canoe polo! I love nature. Art, fashion, photography and being creative. Acting, dancing and music. Languages. Word play. Learning new things and learning about different ways of life. Learning to see things differently and broaden my mind. I also love trying to read in different languages.

I especially love trying regional food -everywhere I go, I try to taste some of the local specialties.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Helping build a snow cave which was large enough for nine people to sleep in in the alpine country of Victoria, Australia. Running through the early stages of a snowstorm to the warmth of a spa! (Folgaria, Italy)

I really love snow... maybe because I don't see that much of it back home! :P

Teach, Learn, Share

Knowledge about the cuisine of different regions, and about the differences and the similarities in the way in which people in different places live their lives. Language exchange -Italian and English. I also understand a little bit of Spanish and a tiny bit of French and am interested in learning more.
