About Me

I graduated from university in 2014. From there I went to work for Marriott and build my experience in the hospitality industry. I went from working at a hotel, to working at a corporate sales office for the company in the city. It didn’t take long for me to realize I was on the path I thought I was supposed to be on, rather than the path I wanted to be on.

After some researching, I applied to teach abroad in Thailand. I had never left the States before this. It was the most terrifying and freeing experience of my lifetime. What started off as a year abroad, turned into a travel story I’m still writing.

I love being active, being outside, and sightseeing. While I do enjoy going out for drinks on occasion, it is not the focus of my travels. I’m a total morning person and an avid coffee drinker. I always have a smile on my face, am easy going, and love a good laugh.

So now, with a few more countries added to my list, I am searching for ways to extend my travels as long as possible while simultaneously meeting great people along the way.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

There’s 2 things I love when traveling: saving money, and meeting locals and/or expats with local knowledge. I’m completely new to the site, but I am excited to try a new type of travel. If I’m to stay true to my mission, I must be open to new experiences!

I hope to meet a lot of people along the way and eventually return the favor when I choose my next place to settle down.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music:
I love just about everything! I love going to see live music. While living in Thailand I really enjoyed listening to Thai pop. When I’m home I’m a sucker for cheesy pop music, but I enjoy just about everything from country, to EDM, to indie. I cannot possibly pick a favorite!

Movies:
I am awful at picking favorites but some movies I really enjoy are Harry Potter, You before Me, Love Actually, and so many others I cannot remember. Always eager to add to my movie list!

Books:
I love Jodie Picoult books. She writes from different perspective and has some really interesting twists in her stories. She always pulls me in and the book is over way too fast! Book recommendations are always welcome!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Moved to Thailand for over a year. It’s not easy breaking free from the 9-5 world. You have to leave a lot behind, including loved ones. I think that signing up for a year in Thailand was both amazing, and a bit crazy. I didn’t have much experience with other cultures other than my own. I think I’d eaten Thai food only a few times. I also didn’t even have a passport yet! It retrospect it was definitely a little crazy and spontaneous, but saying yes to teaching abroad has been the most amazing thing I could have done for myself, and I wouldn’t change a thing.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have been a teacher in Thailand for over a year now. I currently teach English online. I would love to share these experiences with my host, but mostly I hope to learn from my host. I hope to learn their language, their culture, and their insider tips of the cities we meet in!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I hope to share my culture with my hosts. I'm very fun loving, not very serious, and love learning new things. I want to share my personality with my host and get to know them, as well!
