About Me

Hi, I'm Sarah. I'm a travel loving, book reading, chocolate eating, nerd from Australia. I love learning about people and places, having great conversations, and spending time in nature. One of my favourite things to do in a new city is find a park and a patch of grass and watch the world go by for a while. I have a big heart and a big laugh and I make a mean chocolate brownie (although credit probably should go to Jamie Oliver for the recipe!). I work as an energy healer and oracle card reader and I record and share healing meditations online. It's a far cry from my old 'office life' as a legal secretary (and I'm very, very happy about that)!

I'm not verified here yet but I do have publicly viewable websites and social media accounts so you can see if I seem like the kinda person you'd like to hang with and have stay. I also spent 8 months house and pet sitting in Australia before starting my travels and I have publicly viewable reviews on the Aussie Housesitters website.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on couchsurfing because I love meeting new people. I really enjoy learning about people, hearing their stories about life, travel and their passions and interests. I also love the idea of getting to know a little more about a place through the eyes of a local.

I can't offer a place to stay at the moment as I'm travelling full time and don't have a home, but I'm very happy to help out around the house, cook a meal, or offer a card reading or some Reiki, and some great conversation in exchange for a place to stay.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a book nerd from way back and have probably spent more hours watching movies and TV shows in my life than I'd care to admit! 😂

Books

I like to mix fiction and non-fiction, and a good autobiography is always great (especially listening to an audiobook on a bus or train). Some of my faves over the years include The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo series (the original movies in Swedish were great too), Papillon, and a recent read I really enjoyed was A Walk In The Woods by Bill Bryson. Laugh out loud funny AND a travel book!

Movies

I like action, comedy and romcoms but also enjoy a good documentary. Some movies that come to mind which are old faves or which I really enjoyed are Tag, Mrs Harris Goes to Paris, Love Actually, Die Hard, the Bourne series, Lord of the Rings, My Best Friend's Girl, pretty much anything with Kate Hudson in it, The Wedding Singer, Music and Lyrics, Ratatouille, Groundhog Day, and Dave.

TV Shows

I like a pretty wide variety of TV shows. Things like Ozark, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Frasier, Third Rock From The Sun, How I Met Your Mother, Californication, Upload, Queer Eye, Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire, New Tricks and I'm sure there are a whole heap more.

Music

I'll pretty much listen to anything but I'm not into heavy metal. If I was curating a playlist it'd be a mix of 80s and 90s with more recent music from artists like Pink. I also really enjoy listening to music in other languages, especially when I'm travelling.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

For me, trading my office job for a work as a healer was pretty scary and exciting. I often joke that as a legal secretary I used to get paid to help people be mean to each other, but now doing healing work I get paid to help people feel better. It's a very nice change.

Leaving the comfort of doing healing work in someone else's business, giving away almost all of my things, and leaving Australia to travel has also been something I reckon's a bit amazing. It felt scary to choose 'life outside of my comfort zone' but it felt scarier to spend the rest of my life wondering 'what if'.
