About Me

Hi there! I'm Sarah, and I love to travel, make new friends, and learn about ways of life, so I thought I'd give couchsurfing a try. I grew in LA, but in the past five years, I have lived primarily in Quebec, Canada and South Korea.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I used to run a local travel and culture blog in Los Angeles, and since then, I've been passionate about learning why people hold their hometowns special. I think the best way to get to see somewhere is to make local friends and see a place through their eyes. In conclusion...here I am.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a big reader. My favorite book frequently changes, but right now, I am really into "The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao" by Junot Diaz. I read when I'm eating, before I sleep, when I wake up, on transport, outside, inside, in all weather...part of my job is helping kids learn how to read!

I enjoy both fiction and nonfiction. Some themes/genres that interest me are colonial and post-colonial literature, adventure, mystery, sociocultural commentary...but honestly I'll read pretty much anything. Even if it's written by David Sedaris.

I'd like to get into more graphic novels.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've taught my own summer-long drama course to underprivileged middle school students in Hong Kong.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach me your language! I enjoy learning languages.

What I Can Share with Hosts

The best I can hope for is to be an excellent conversationalist and willing participant in whatever comes our way!

Additionally, I love playing music and jamming with people, so I will make music with you.
