About Me

I am 24 years old, a recent graduate of University of Maryland and currently working as an Au Pair in Albury, Australia. I'm doing a gap year and traveling while applying for a Master's degree in Anthropology. Outside of work, I am a rock climber and hiker and love exploring new places. I come from an active family and I enjoy being outside and staying healthy.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It has always been my dream to travel the world. I graduated from college 2 years ago, and worked for a while to save money for traveling. Four months ago I quit my job and began my gap year by doing a 2 month road trip around the US. I recently went to Thailand and am now in Albury, Australia for the next 3 months as an Au Pair! After I'm finished I'll be heading to New Zealand, and South America before finally going back home. I learned about couch surfing from a friend while I was studying abroad in Chile and it seems like an amazing experience. I'm used to staying in hostels and meeting new people and I'm excited to meet new people through couch surfing as well. Once I'm in grad school, I will definitely be inviting fellow couch surfers into my home!

Music, Movies, and Books

Favorite music: pretty open to all things. Depends what I'm in the mood for.

Favorite movie: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, though there's really a lot more.

Favorite book: The Awakening

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Probably the most amazing thing I've done was hike Patagonia because I'd never backpacked before in my life and just went on a whim and did it. It was so incredible and worth every second, even the stressful ones. I hope to do a lot more amazing things in the future!

Teach, Learn, Share

Things I can teach: backpacking, rock climbing, English, Spanish

Things I can learn: new languages, new places to hike and explore, new cultures

Things I can share: recipes, planning a trip to Patagonia, tricks for getting cheap flights

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love cooking, so if you want to try a new recipe I'd be happy to show my appreciation for a place to stay by cooking you something delicious. I can also share extensive knowledge on the east coast of the U.S. if you plan on visiting there some day, since I've lived there all my life. I'd like to improve my Spanish and love learning other languages so if English is your second language I'd love to help you practice. Overall, I love laughing and sharing stories when I'm with a new host.
