About Me
Sorry folks, I am not hosting for the month of August/early Sept, as I air bnb my space out over the Edinburgh festival period. I'm also unable to confirm hosting for requests months in advance, due to the constant changes to days in my work.
Started travelling at 28 years old, after working for the same retailer for 8 years before realising 'this sucks'. Sold everything I owned, bought a ticket to Bangkok, travelled through almost all of South East Asia, went to Australia (wasn't keen), then went back to Thailand, where I settled for work for 2 years.
Came back to the 'real world' to adult/get a mortgage etc... but very much miss the company and stories of other travellers. I'm lucky enough that my job allows me to travel often still, taking 13 trips in 2016. Run a reasonably successful travel blog: www.myveggietravels.com
Vegetarian/pushing vegan. Mexico and Cuba were tough to go dairy free (and Im still struggling with chocolate and cheese ditching). However, I would ask anyone coming to stay with me to not bring meat or dairy into my home (what they do outside of my home is none of my business). I do enjoy showing people how to incorporate non meat meals into their diet (if asked). On a little side note to that, I've had a few couch surfers ask me to teach them, but also to buy the ingredients for them.... :/ I'm afraid I just dont have the budget for that.
As much as I like meeting groups, my little apartment is realistically only big enough for myself and a max of 2 guests.
Most people don't read my profile properly, so here's a little test... tell me the name of your favourite travel destination :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
As above, I've travelled for years and find it difficult to meet the same kind of people you do travelling, on a day to day basis in your own city. I also want to support those currently travelling, as people were so good to me when I was on the road. Pay it forward and all that jazz...

Music, Movies, and Books
Music taste varies.. I love listening to local music in the locations I am staying. I enjoy light jazz and slow rnb for chilling out, hip hop and electro for parties, and pop music and older artists such as Elvis, Louis Prima, Harry Belafonte etc.
Books - I run a monthly book club as part of my job, but favourite come from fiction intertwined with historical events; Memoirs of a Geisha, A thousand splendid suns.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One? arrrgh! Living in Thailand and learning Thai was one of the most precious times in my life. I completely submersed myself in the culture, working for a Thai boss, and living in a small area with very few tourists.
