About Me
Hi there! I am a university student about to start my first year of Pharmacy School in the Fall of 2015. Outside of studying, I like to watch anime and Asian dramas, take dance classes, explore new places, sing for fun, volunteer to tutor students, and write stories every once and a while.
I am also very passionate about non-profit work, so if you know of any organizations that will let me volunteer for a short time in your country, please let me know and I would love to try it!
This is my first time couchsurfing, so unfortunately I don't have any references for you. But if you are concerned or just want to talk with me before meeting up, I am happy to do a Skype call or Facetime to reassure you I am a good person! Just message me and let me know.
Although I am not hosting people right now (my roommate doesn't want to), if you are visiting Austin (or Dallas or Houston in Texas) I know lots about it, so feel free to ask me questions on good places to eat or visit. Or if you visit Austin, I can show you around, even if I can't host you! I hope to get to know a lot of people here and learn about many different cultures!
In the past, I have:
Been to Vietnam to visit family (2 weeks)
Studied bunraku in Nagahama, Japan; Also visited Kyoto, Osaka, Omihachiman, Kobe, Nara and other cities (2 months)
Been to Dublin, Ireland (1 week)
Studied Social Work in London, England (1 month)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I suffer from a severe case of wanderlust and can't seem to stop myself from traveling. Every summer, I end up finding some new country to travel to. For Summer 2015, I have applied to a study abroad program focusing on Traditional Chinese Medicine in Kunming, China (Yunnan Province). After the program ends, I hope to visit Taiwan and Japan since I'm already on that side of the Earth, so when that time comes, I hope I can find some nice people to couchsurf with! I want to learn about other perspectives and ways of life. :)

Teach, Learn, Share
Here are some of my favorite quotes:
“It’s dark because you are trying too hard. Lightly child, lightly. Learn to do everything lightly. Yes, feel lightly even though you’re feeling deeply. Just lightly let things happen and lightly cope with them. So throw away your baggage and go forward. There are quicksands all about you, sucking at your feet, trying to suck you down into fear and self-pity and despair. That’s why you must walk so lightly. Lightly my darling…”
~Aldous Huxley, Island
"If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them."
~Henry David Thoreau
"qui res adversas fortiter patiuntur, maximam gloriam merent."
Those who bravely suffer unfavorable things will deserve the greatest glory.
"nullum magnum ingenium sine mixtura dementiae fuit."
~Seneca
There can be no great genius without a mixture of madness.
"My creed is that public service must be more than doing a job efficiently and honestly. It must be a complete dedication to the people and to the nation with full recognition that every human being is entitled to courtesy and consideration, that constructive criticism is not only to be expected but sought, that smears are not only to be expected but fought, that honor is to be earned, not bought."
~Margaret Chase Smith: 1st woman elected to both House & Senate
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'm happy to share my adventures about any of the places I have lived or visited! I can also help cook and clean if you want me to. And if you'll let me, I will definitely treat you out to eat as thanks for letting me stay. I can also bring you souvenirs from the place I'm from or bring back gifts you want to send to people who live in Austin, Dallas or Houston.
Also, if you can play guitar or piano or some other instrument, I love singing, so maybe we can have a jam session!
